<div class="IPBDescription">Anyone know how to force steam to update?</div>Hi there,

So I been stuck on build 230 on steam. My roommates were able to update successfully to 232 on steam when the patch was released.

Natural Selection 2 - Properties - Automatic Updates - "Always keep this game up-to-date" is selected.

I've tried verifying integrity. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing. I've tried disable/enable steam cloud. I've tried deleting clientregistry.blob.

I've tried rebooting my computer and steam multiple times.

My other steam games update fine, I've never experienced this problem before.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

The beta program is disabled from now on so i wouldnt do that ^

This is an odd issue..a complete reinstall should fix this. Have you confirmed by opening the console after a fresh installation and seeing "build 230" ?
I really cant see why it wouldnt download/update.. Have you tried selecting a different steam server to download from?

    Hi,

    Thanks for the responses.

My current download server was US - Seattle. I changed the server to US - Boston, then US- New York, and then finally Netherlands. Each region change forced a steam restart. Each time after the steam restart I opened up the game but the console still stated the version was at 230. I turned off steam cloud and did a fresh re-install while still downloading from Netherlands. Launched the game and the console still said 230.

Please let me know if you would like me to provide anything else.

    Thanks!

    There's some steam logs found in : C:\Program Files\Steam\logs
Would you mind putting them into a zip file and hosting it somewhere and linking it here?

Steam beta are never disabled, and it forces the steam client to update picking up any updates available

    Log files from Steam\logs:

    <a href="https://s3.amazonaws.com/aws-cs-public/logs.rar" target="_blank">https://s3.amazonaws.com/aws-cs-public/logs.rar</a>

I run MSE and have MS firewall completely disabled. We run a bsd pfsense firewall does our software/hardware firewall for us.

I do not believe the issue is related to MSE/firewall as my roommates are behind the same firewall and use MSE, however their NS2 client updated successfully and is running the latest version.

I was going to have one of my roommates do a steam backup of ns2 and use their copy to do a restore. I'll post the results shortly.

Just copy paste it over, steam backuping has a common issue of not actually working

Yep, straight copy/paste seems to resolve the issue. I'm currently on 232 now. Looks like the devs are planning another update shortly, so we'll have to see how that goes.

Thanks all for your help, much obliged.
