Time for a new mouse mat

<div class="IPBDescription">what are you using?</div>I currently have a g500 mouse and this table top isnt the best surface, so I'm looking to get a decent mouse mat.

Anything you would recommend? I'd like one thats smooth with very little friction between the mouse & pad

    The above mentioned cloth mats really mess up my mouse when I lift it. I don't have this problem with rubber/plastic or other hard surface ones. It's like the tracking goes way too high all of sudden when I use one.

    Currently using a razer Sphex but I'm pretty much done with any razor product from now on so I'll turn to some <a href="http://mionix.net/" target="_blank">swedish quality instead.</a>

    I know what you mean. I have a love/hate relationship with them. I love their overpriced mice when they work. But every time I buy one I know it's going to flake out in some godawful way within months of use.

    Unlike my intellimouse at work that I've been using for over 7 years with the only breakage being that the plastic that's in constant contact with my hand is now rubbed smooth and has lost it's grip from thousands of hours of use.

    Razer Mamba is the best mouse I have ever used, and I've been using their DeathAdder model for years... Unfortunately, every time I went to get a Mamba, there was some physical defect with it that made me need to return it. I think I tried every one my local Best Buy had at one point (they had about 4 or 5), and each failed in some different spectacular way. At some point I'll probably try getting a new Mamba but I really don't know how to get around all these manufacturing defects and find the golden egg from the mouse factory.

    I really thought paying 40$ for a Mouse Pad, was gimmicky.

    I really thought that.

    Until I got fed up with the cheap 15-20$ ones.

    I bought this and my G9x from Logitech is amazing on it...so smooth, perfect tracking...it's wonderful. It attracts dust and crumbs like a magnet though.

    But really, I somehow believe that despite being 40$, that mouse pad was worth it...and I don't buy gimmicky stuff.

    I went for the The Ensis 320 black.

    It's quite new so there's not many reviews about, but the ones I've seen have been positive. I made the choice after trying my housemates razer mat, I wasn't too impressed with the amount of friction between the mouse and mat so it put me off wanting a fabric one.

    Should be here tomorrow, I'l post back with my thoughts after using it.

    I just bought a series of progressively finer sandpapers from the hardware store for ten bucks and sanded my tabletop glass-smooth. No mousepad for me!

    I don't want something that just work (that's apple's market) I want something that makes it better. If I'd settle with "works" I'd just use any free hard surface with the size around 20x30 because it will work just fine. It's not like you can find a (hard & flat) surface that doesn't work. Unless it's like glass and it spooks the sensor to going haywire.

    What I'm trying to do here is justify my 40$ mousepad purchase.
