Toss us server admins a bone
Please I beg you to give us server operators a heads up for these updates. We like to provide servers for people to enjoy this great game on but they can not play on them if they are not updated. I used to check twitter to see if there was going to be an update but recently it appears that us server operators are expected to be in game 24/7 waiting for updates.

Please do something like what Valve did with its mail list to give us a shout out that either an update is coming in a few hours or that one is released. We all got cell phones with internet and it we can get a regularly formatted message saying an update is out our phone can explode so we can run to the computer and get the server up so people can play.

    This seems like a good idea!

    They gave advanced warring on twitter this time and actual gave us a news post. Still though it would be great if there was an official notice as to where server owners should query update news from so we can configure our phones to notify us of an update before or as soon as it is released.

    What is the good news here is that they are continuing to fix bugs and make optimizations very fast!

    I think the easiest and most reliable thing to do would be to get the updates posted to Steam news.

    I do not think they want to spam steam news with that. Think of the hotfix, that is something server operators need to know asap to update but people reading steam news do not.

    A lot of games use Steam news for that. It is kind of what it is for;

    http://store.steampowered.com/news/

    They also have a blog; http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns2/ where they post the updates that you can subscribe to.

    Lastly there is Twitter and Facebook.

    I am not opposed to a mailing list but there are current methods of knowing about an update.

    Which of those had an announcement for build 231? Other than twitter the others where also posted hours after the update.

    What I am getting at, is there is no need to create a new source just update the current sources faster.

    This would be great, I was searching all over assuming there was a mailing list.
    Or a feature that auto updates would be even better!
