The Microsoft link? Yep I have tried the solutions listed there. Texture streaming on/off doesn't help either. Is it strange that GPU-Z is saying my GPU is under 99-100% load in just the menu screen? This is regardless of the graphical detail set. I think I might try the latest beta drivers again but not install any off the additional software (CCC etc.). I'm also going to try my older card to see if that still runs fine. Any other suggestions? I considered that my card my not be getting enough power, but when its stressed by Furmark I don't have any issue. I have a Silverstone ST56F which I'm pretty sure should be alright. I'm gutted cos I've got University break atm and I really want to play :(
Same problem here. There's no in-game situation that causes it except that it always happens after a game is +20 minutes. I assume it has to do with some memory/graphics card memory issue with relation to infestation and such... but thats just a guess.
I registered just to post this and found this thread at the top of the forum. Sure hope you fix this because its killing my fun :)

Update.
I deleted all NS2 files and downloaded and installed 229 anew. All crashes are gone now! If anyone had problems with 228 and still has them with 229 like it was for me I recommend redownloading and reinstalling.

Hello, I get like 3-7 graphics driver crashes per match with 229. Like others have stated its after 20 minutes or so. Super annoying. I have completely uninstalled my display driver and re-installed it. even tried to re-install ns2 but nothing seems to of fixed it.
I had not ever encountered this issue until the update to 229. Since then I have completely frozen in place two times and had to kill the process in task manager to quit. Today it happened when I was reloading a grenade launcher after firing off 4.

People.. please do not post in this thread unless your issue looks exactly like this: http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns2/forums/in...t&p=2023507
If it looks any different for you please start a new thread, this is not a general "crash" thread, this is a specific thread related to this problem, as stated at the top of this page. Thanks

No. My drivers are fairly old actually, but they are up to date per the ATI site.

Sorry IH, my crash is not a display driver not responding (I know those quite well from my laptop)
Rather, its just the game locking up hard... have to CTL/ALT/DEL and shut down the NS process.

My issue was different but I have yet to encounter it in 229.
Regarding the quoted post, the issue Jaakington is having starts at position 9:30 in the video for those who are curious. It is a situation where the game appears to lock up with looping sound, screen goes black but then recovers shortly afterward (at least in the video).
Note to all: If this does not describe your issue, a new thread would be more appropriate and appreciated.

I did try, there are no new drivers for my card which is just under a year old right now. I have not had to update the drivers for quite a while. The point being that the drivers would not be "new" to the devs in terms of support nor can I update them now to something better. Hence, unless the latest ATI cards are not well served in NS2, its not the source of the freeze. Likewise, an older driver would probably be the ones that shipped with the card back in January... dunno if that's wise given that I do play other games like BF3 that tax the GPU quite heavily.
Unfortunately the crash isn't common enough to warrant constant capture program use, but I will start randomly recording games and see if I can catch it in action and post a new thread if/when I do.

Those minidumps are most helpful for the devs, you can output them as a *.dmp file too for more info, though be careful as i made one the other day that was 1.6 GB. :-D

I just played a gather where we lost two Onos to that crash in a single game. First my teammate got an Onos. We mopped up Crossroads in like 1 minute, then rushed back to the hive. Halfway there, he crashed. Afterwards, the exact moment I saved up 75 res for a second Onos I crashed too. I do realize I'd still have the res when I reconnected, but by that point my team surrendered.
Thankfully it was just a gather, but what if it was a major competition? Rematch? This was a pretty even 40-minute game, don't think a rematch could happen easily.

Took a couple of hours before a freeze up on 229.
