It was really eerie actually. . .
Not the fight, but the moments just before
I had the team line up and make a distraction while I cysted in and misted the shifts

All the skulks died, but then 30 eggs appeared

I can image that in that moment that time must have slowed down for the Marine team
None of them moved. . . just the sound of a few reloading guns to accompany the warm, soothing gestation

    Yea I was in the game, I got done holding everyone off in east skylights and departures only to realize we were completely screwed. Those were some REALLY stacked teams though.

    Looks like Interesting and funny strategy. As i understand, it based on skulk rush to marine base.

    you only control 90% of the map.... yup, you would have won no matter what you would have done, you could have easily spammed whips and bring them to marine base and they would been just as clueless and you would have won the game.

    I was in a game similar to this. Someone mentioned you can spawn eggs through walls into the marine base :( if it's true I hope it gets fixed :)

    Egg rush... hahahah!

    Looks like you already owned most of the map though :| Again, this is a problem with some of these chamber upgrades. If only you could risk this early game! Which is why I thinkshift should allow certain structures to generate their own infestation.

    i mean you could have put a bunch of whips near the IP's or anything, right?

    if marines allow cysts to enter their base then their team is massively inferior.

    I love shifts. I've been getting a few around the map before the 2nd hive as well, but mostly because pretty much every game we had a lot of map control and I could afford them. Easily my favourite alien building. A shift in the middle of the map makes your team so mobile.

    We had already won the first game using 3 Shift Play so game two everyone should of been ready for it

    The problem is, against an evenly (and reasonably) experienced and skilled marine team, you will never get that close to the marine base during the early/mid game where marines have a distinct advantage.

    This is clearly possible and fun for publics where people have little idea what they are doing, but I think you will find this more and more difficult as time passes.

    How exactly? When you cannot get within an entire room of the marine team's base it is simply not possible to initiate the strategy. I think you are underestimating how terrible the teams you play against in publics are, this is really cool and I would love to see it sometime but player ability improving will prevent this eventually in publics (with the current game balance).

    There's absolutely no way that would have worked if I wasn't out of the base, or the comm was paying attention. And really if you have the res to cyst all the way into the marine base and drop that many shifts you better already have the whole map. Cause losing all that would be pretty significant.

    In that refinary map you own most of the res, there is even 4 aliens attacking pipe.

    I bet the marines we shooting eggs and not the shifts yeah?

    The telling thing about the video is when the marines beacon, and all the aliens don't immediately die. You ever seen a beacon in a comp game when it's skulks vs marines? I could be wrong, but I feel like every single one I've seen ends with the skulks leaving or being shot. Marines only do better in those situations with more players, and that pub was bigger than 6v6. Clearly the marine team just wasn't very good.

    Calling wildly for nerfs because you use crazy strats in pubs vs baddies is what needs to be nerfed.

    if the marines don't split into 2-3 groups at the start and spread about the map, it's already GG... i feel like leaving the game in the first 3 minutes when this happens.

    This isn't new. . . I've done the same strat with 5-6 Infantry Portals and rushing a Phase gate inside or next to a hive

    You can't cover stuff like summit reception and it's just an endless flood of marines after that

    shifts shouldnt be able to spawn eggs in the first place, it makes them a compulsory first or second hive tech, they should onl be able to echo eggs to different parts of the map ;/

    Marines on 4 RTs, aliens on 6 or 5. Already lost marine game by the looks of it. Infestation right outside of marine base, little to no reaction from marine team.

    Let's see, how should we win? Drifter rush? Whip echo? Hallucinations? A not-so-clear example of "how can I troll this already won alien game the best." Oh, shifts it is.

    I've actually been extremely appalled at how many marine teams will just let me infest right into their base as alien com, or right outside of it. It only shows people don't quite understand how the game works yet, or aliens have won already.

    By the way, phase gate next door to a hive has kinda the same effect on aliens. You should probably make a few videos about that...
