Disconnected from Steam servers

My server is losing the connection to the steam server from time to time.
While disconnected nobody can connect. After a random amount of time
it reconnects to the steam server and it is connectable again, but sometimes
it wont reconnect at all and i have to restart it manualy.

    It is hosted within a virtual machine on a unix root.
    Outbound traffic is not limited and inbound ports are forwarded to the vm.
    A more verbose server log in terms of why the server disconnects from the steam network would be nice

    I've seen this happen several times to my server. What most likely happens is the server loses connection and will only retry a connection for five minutes and then give up. An option would be to raise the retry limit on the server so it never stops re-attempting a connection.

    Typically, its either a steam issue (you will lose connection to their master servers from time to time which is also why steamfriends goes down) or your simply losing internet connection.

    it has to be an issue between steam and the ns2 server because my root won't lose it connection unless there are hoster problems (there weren't any)
