<div class="IPBDescription">Don't play with your food, Eat it.</div> When a alien that uses its mouth to kill stuff (eg Skulk) I reckon they should be able to eat them for health instead of regeneration. So a Onos has to actually Eat the marines , not just run away, regenerate and then attack again. And the option to pick up the marine body and carry it somewhere then eat it (eg a vent). Tell me what you think of this?

    I agree, it would be a little tricky, but in no way impossible.

    The first person part would be simple:
    I remember in "Thief", when you would pick up a corpse it would basically slow down your movement speed and show an icon. Then when you dropped it, it would turn off the icon, restore your speed, and drop a corpse in front of you. These things wouldn't be hard to implement at all.

    The third person part: how to represent a skulk or fade dragging a marine from the outside, if you know what I mean... it would seem that if you didn't want to change the models entirely, you could explain it as a "temporary consumption", i.e. "I'll put this corpse into my alien gizzard then barf him up somewhere to eat him properly." That way you wouldn't have to change the model (except maybe make it fatter <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> ).

    from the outside it could look like the skulk bit the marines arm and walks backwards with it. OR fades can pick them up and share them with other aliens and stuff.

    Actually it is a quite good idea (not the dragging part)
    It can be easely done by awarding hit points for every kill (cannot exceed HP max)
    There are some technical issues that prevent developers from dragging bodies across maps

    I said it should replace the Regenration upgrade, Regeneration is a very good factor for aliens, With it they have a big advantage, without it they have a big disadvantage. Able to eat marines for HP would be a good factor

    carrying can be done by the hl engine. The Science and Industry mod has the ability to steal the enemies scientists by whaking them with a breif case, that throws them over your shoulder.

    shouldnt be too hard to work out the damage done to a marine - marnies health, if that number is less than 0 then you get a new menu item, something like "consume" with sub options of "carry" or "eat" and when carrying marine, carry becomes "drop". the marines model could simply be added on the Z axis in the position of the last frame of a "*_die" sequence.

    i think that this would be a great idea, the aliens are too powerful and being able to regen is jast making them better, if they had to kill their prey it would be much better for marines

    The dragging and carrying part would not work very well from the third persons point of view ( it think) because the models would not animate very well. Whilst a seperate fade / onos model could be made the skulk would be very difficult. Awarding hp for kills is a good idea, but how about letting skulks/fades/onos 'use' a corpse like a health station in HL.? This would be better (imo) than simply awarding hp for a kill as the aliens would have to stay around to eat.

    Vampire Slayer you can eat the humans corpses and get 1hp a second.

    They wouldnt want a lot of gore so there would be no bloody corpses everywhere though, so i dont think this will be put in.

    using as a health station i think is a good idea, but you would need to take it away to eat

    another idea, maybe heavy armour would stop a body being able to get eaten if the armout level is high enough (imagine getting you teeth into heavy armour *crack go the teeth*)

    Actually 70 seconds, inclduing armor 80 seconds, but thats in vampire slayer.

    they dont have to be gorey. Just normal dead marine models

    i reckon like it should be 10 hp every 3 seconds. Cause a skulk would run into marine base, grab a marine, bring him out and eat him. 70 seconds to heal a skulk would just be too long, and make them too vunerable.

    How about they kill them, eat them at the spot, run back to base and throw them up as gibs and share them with others or let them slowly digest in ur stomache so ur health slowy goes up like regenration, but only limited about like 50 hp. and the gibs be 5 hp each. and this option only for skulks and onos, fades have to eat skulk puke <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    That's the point the two races are so different and they have advantages and disadvantages, like marine upgrades go to the whole team, and the comm can drop medpacks... And the healing rate of regen is utterly slow. So the advantage isn't that big, regen wont keep you in combat any longer it will just let you regen when you are hiding...

    But getting hp from biteing marines is kind of a good idea, but it really depends on how much. If its too little you will still have to run to a dc and if it's too much aliens will be too powerfull...

    Ofcourse it would be fun to drop a marine body out of a vent to scare the rest of the marines.. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

    This is idea will not work with the story line, from the manual:

    so the idea of them having any need for human flesh is removed!
