Sycning to content

In unreal we can sync back from a material placed on a surface or a prop back to its place in the content browser. Is there a way to do that quickly? If I have a material on a surface I want to quickly find it so I can apply it to other surfaces.

From your signature I can assume that you have experience with majority of level designers tools on the market, thus you are used to high standart for user interface. Unfortunately Spark editor is still very basic and doesnt provide any luxury.

There is an "eye dropper" for textures, but nothing similar for props. Even better, the prop/texture libary view gets reset often. So the best way to search everything is by name.

The eye dropper will work just fine, thanks!

You can also select the surface you enjoy with texture tool and alt-click to transfer it to other surfaces.

Am I missing a simple way to reorganize the layer order when I have multiple layers?

We all are. :( :D It's a feature I'm really pining for myself, but I'm sure it will come once UWE finds that elusive tools programmer. They're a rare, highly sought-after species, them tools programmers. Nigh extinct!

Sometimes when duplicating assets or even moving (just now happened for the first time) all of my props turn a shade of translucent sky blue. Any idea what that is all about?

Also I have two sets of two verts in the same spot. Any way to weld them? Causing issues trying to make a ceiling.

Curently the ctr+D duplication shortcut is bugged. Better use crtl+c/v

Select them and while still in selection tool the option "weld verticles" will become available in Edit menu. But still there will stay some duplicated edges. To get rid of them, you should place the geometry in a layer and hide, all redudant edges will stay unhidden.

    Hi there,

For the problem with the verts, just select the ones you want to weld. Then just hit Ctrl+W or select “Weld Vertics“ in the menu.

For the problem with the props, i don't have an answer, as this problem never crossed my desk.
It happened once with normal geometry after copying it, and the only solution was to reload the map, as all faces were suddenly gone. Unfortunatly the editor is still a little buggy.

An advice for handling the layers. I thought before actually building the map what rooms and places i will build and therefore created all layers i will need. For example seperate layer for the geometry, one for props and so on for everx single room. So i started with a bunch of sorted layers before actually building the map.

But, in my case, i am just an enthusiast and freetime designer. Maybe you like to share some advice with us. ;D
Anyways, have fun in the forums and with the game.

    So long

    Awesome thanks!

Should probably just rename this thread to "zaford's noob questions"

I'm not a fan of welding, because you can't unweld them if you make a mistake currently. Just something to keep in mind :)

Well, and i am not a fan of keeping things unwelded, because they will cause trouble if you want to select and move them, creating more holes in your mao than a swiss cheese. But maybe i am just too noobish. ;D

Would rather call it "zaford's bug list and feature suggestions"
