Thoughts on third hive Webs and Acid rocket

Any chance for a comeback for those?
I kinda miss webbing pesky jetpackers as a gorge.
That and acid rocket, although that was OP in NS1, perhaps a slightly nerfed one as NS2 third hive ability?

Hugh mentioned the possibility of webs coming in his dev cast last Sunday. It'll be a while off yet if they decide to put it in.

so how exactly was acid rocket OP , its end game tech!

Acid Rocket was great but it didn't particularly fit with the Fade's gameplay style. Besides the Lerk is back to being the long range class again, aliens don't really need another one.

I would love the webs. Rather than acid rockets I would love the ability for the Fade to be able to grab and hold marines (causing friendly fire damage). Sorta like what was done in the Exo reveal trailer..

I would however love to see ranged spores for the lerk.

Charlie said he's thinking of a structure for the gorge that will fire or create webs.

You can't really bring back webs the way they were back in NS1. Jetpacks are balanced around how damn unmaneuverablethey are at the moment. Imagine you could be brought down by a single gorge. Nobody would ever buy jetpacks again. Though considering how cheap they are, maybe I'm completely wrong. Either way, you wouldn't be able to use them in enemy territory the way you can now.

I think in NS1, when the fade had adrenaline and acid rocket, it could be spammed endlessly.

Jet packs? Lacking maneuverability? Are those the same jet packs I use to zip into an Alien hive and flamethrower that mutha' into the ground while skulk dodging and juking Gorges?

Anywho, web sounds amazing and it would be groovy to give Gorges another structure. I like the idea of being an area denial specialist.

As for Acid Rocket, well it would go a long way toward making Fades relevant at end-game. At the moment, their best option is to die and go Onos/Gorge/Lerk. I like the idea of letting people play their favorite life form without being punished end-game for being something they hate playing (as well as something they're probably good at, since they lived long enough to make it to end game in the first place.)

    Oh, and yes to Babblers!

I REALLY REALLY hope webs aren't third hive again. We need hive 3 abilities that allow aliens to punish marines from piling together in their base. Not third have abilities that punish marines for trying to move out even more than they are punished normally. Third hive is easier to get in NS2, we don't need the situation where we're balancing third hive aliens down because we've given them abilities that are too generally strong. I wouldn't mind web replacing spit, and spit being moved to third hive (and beefed up significantly) Gorge could be made more beefy then.

I'd like babblers to be brought back as a unit that's spit out by a gorge placeable structure. A mechanic similar to swarm hosts in SC2 would be really cool. That would definitely be one of those things where marines couldn't afford to sit and camp in base anymore.
