Research Eggs to delay early onos

<div class="IPBDescription">A proposal to improve alien egg drops</div>I think we could help our early onos problem by introducing a research time and cost for dropping eggs of each lifeform.

The thing is, late game 75 res for an onos isn't really unfair, what is unfair is that it take so little time to get the tech needed to drop an onos.

Requiring 3 hives for onos eggs will basically remove them from 90% of games, and make 2 hives vs 2 chairs really marine stacked.

Instead I think the alien team should have to invest resources to research egg dropping.

Cost might be something like this:
Gorge egg - No research required
Lerk egg tech - 10 res 30 seconds
Fade egg tech - 25 res 1 minute
Onos egg tech - 50 res 2 minutes.

This way fade egg drops come out at about the time onos eggs come out now. So at about 6 minutes if aliens have 3 rts.

Onos eggs come out about 1 minute and 40 seconds later, assumeing the aliens have 3 rts.

This means it is still possible to rush lifeforms, but they won't come out so early as to be unstoppable.

What I really don't like is, even if I'm playing as Alien, for the comm to drop like 3 Onos eggs in an area, we all just grab em and rush in, then use our own personal res to go Onos if we DO die and rush again before they have a chance.

    Feeeeeeeeeeeels so cheap.

This is actually a pretty good suggestion, and would require less rework than some of the idea's I've seen bouncing around. I think 50 T.Res is a bit steep though, make the research cost about the same as what it costs for Marines to get dual-exo's but subtract the cost of the hive itself. Right now, the problem is the second hive is all you need to research.

This might make you hit some log jams on necessary hive and ability upgrades though, and would necessitate some hard calls. Would need to be tested out to be sure.

Just remove onos egg drops already, trying to balance around this is like trying to adjust the rest of the game to be balanced around infinite fuel 2 minute jetpacks in 1.04

I think there's nothing wrong with Onos eggs. They are expensive and the comm has to decide whether to spend the res for an onos egg or tech, upgrades, map control and a hive...
If you buy an early onos egg it means your team is still running around probably without many evolutions and certainly w/o blink or leap... all that for a single onos - I think that's balanced enough.
At least from my pubber-perspective it looks like games where the comm bought an early onos egg are rather ones which wouldn't end with an alien win if he didnt...so the onos egg is a good alternative strategy if the marines are overwhelming.

If you make onos eggs 50res(researcg) + 75 res (egg) no com in the world would ever use them. And at the time you got enough res to buy such stuff the game is already decided anyway in your favour.

Yeah, having them at such a high res cost makes them basically redundant.
