What happened? Severe drop...

Now, it's normal for game that's been released to drop after awhile, obviously, just normal.

However, every day since release, the population has been growing, I expected it to level off, then start shrinking.

However, peak yesterday was 7800...peak today is 4900....that's a severe drop. You expect to lose a few hundred a day, maybe, with games like this.


But...3000 less peak players than yesterday? That's pretty drastic!


I mean I expected to see them maybe in the low 7,000's today, but to be 3,000 down?!

    my god! Public Holidays in countries / weekends / school breaks! Whodda thunk that the player peak is world based and depending on population footprint at any given time the numbers will go up and down.

    Chillax! 1-day difference is not worth making a thread about it, if it was 1-2 weeks then maybe.

    This is why when you analyze data, you analyze the trend, and only note anomalies! A single day of low activity does not mean the game is falling apart.

    It doesn't have to do with interest. I believe it has to do with a bug earlier today. I was getting 1k ping, and even on twitter it was confirmed that red ping issues were coming up. Still, it was pretty fun to command marines and win a game with 1k ping, haha

    If you take a look here: <a href="http://games.opensteamworks.org/Chart/View/4920" target="_blank">http://games.opensteamworks.org/Chart/View/4920</a> you'll see a graph of player population. Right now, I think the lower player count is due to it being the middle of the week, with weekends you will see the player count rise again. Let's see a few weeks of data before we start making accusations that the game is dieing off.

    I couldn't see any servers for most of the day cause Steam was messed up. I'm assuming it was a fairly common problem.

    Don't look at 2 days of data and assume a trend.
    Look over the stats for a week.

    Ye It was weird. Typically every day my friends list is full of people playing the game, many of whom are hardcore NS1 fans. Yesterday however, absolutely noone on my friends list was in game, and there was only one server full (where I come from one server is a lot, though less than we usually have for NS2). Then I saw how often I was getting disconnected from steam, and it kinda made sense. I think this was just steams fault.

    Its worth noting that NS2 has outlasted the hype that was football manager 2013, and is still going pretty strong in terms of steam sales.

    It will keep falling, After 1 - 2 years more of development. you might see a steady population imo. ^^
    game feels uncomplete.

    I'd say the recent peak number is flawed, probably something not being tallied. If it's not flawed I'd put it down to it being the middle of the week, but that's only speculation.
