Friendly/Competitive UK/Euro Server
Hello All,

Firstly may I invite everyone to our server for some NS2;

109.70.149.169:27015 - NDNS1 - 20 slots - standard rotation

Our UK server will be home most evenings to a solid few games of NS2 - and will be sticking to a slightly more stringent set of rules to keep the standard high. Anyone who used to enjoy Warservers NS1 ten years ago will be on familiar ground.

Rookie mode is very much off and anyone entirely fresh will be asked to learn the basics on another server and kicked if the server is full to make room for an intermediate/advanced player. Beyond that, any skill level above complete rookie is welcome if the player is receptive and cooperative.

Teamwork is a must and players are expected to work to their commanders objectives. (I must say I've been massively impressed at how high the standard is out there so far)

Griefing, base recycling (to prematurely concede), abuse, spamming and other poor behaviour will result in a ban.

Loving the new engine, loving the game. Good work UW.

Cheers,

Inertia

Is recycling buildings considered poor sport or something? Because I try to do that if a base is going to be lost. I am in the US and probably couldn't play on your server regardless, I was just curious if that was considered bad form.

No recycling individually or when retreating is all good. The comment was in reference to people who decide a round is unwinnable (all on their very own) and recycle all the buildings when the comm is out of the chair/hive etc. We like to play properly until the very end of a round, it seems the decent thing to do.

Good spot - and I'll edit the OP

Maybe asking at the wrong place but isn't 20 players too much for a "really serious" game ?
I feel like games are getting messy and "zerg-like" with more than 14 players.

Aliens still have a few problems with easily being egg-locked with more players on the team dying and using the available egg. Game is currently balaned between 12-18 players, but the more players the easier it is to get egg-locked on the alien team and they are forced to go Shift Hive first to get extra eggs by spending team resources...

Unless something is done about that and unless we get much bigger maps (and arguably hive teleporting because of these bigger maps). It will stay balanced around those numbers, I'm afraid...

    Don't confuse competition with seriousness.

We're early days. If 20 (purely my preference) is invalid for any reason we can switch down. Not seen any clear reason to yet though and we'll need the 20 slots for spec/admin slots in matches.

V1.0 might be early days, but the beta has been running for a long time. I think I've give a good reason why more than 18 can cause problems for aliens and in general clashes with map sizes currently :P

These don't really go together. Base recycling or F4 is usually the only way to quickly end a pub marine one-base turtle.

Other than that, good luck. The standard of play on most pubs right now is pretty awful, so it's nice to some some communities springing up to cater to the players who are not-quite-noobs and not-quite-interested in competitive play either.

It takes only one person to use a microphone to completely decimate the Marines' very last CC. Just one. That's all.

Indeed. There isn't much that 8 aliens can't achieve there. Especially with NS2 turrets.

Top couple of games last night - grats to iloveponies for the calmest commanding ever.

Why is it the last game you decide to play before bed is the two hour, 1000 point marathon?
