Is my system suitable for this game?

So I finally got into this game, only to be disappointed that I get 7-14 fps on lowest settings with 1280x720 resolution. Right now it is unplayable, but I wasn't sure if this was because of game optimisation or my system since I've encountered a variety of players who have decent systems, (including just now in a server) who are having the same issue, mentioning that they could not find a solution. I however am using an Alienware M11x R2 with the following specs:

Processor: Intel Core i5-520UM
Motherboard chipset: Intel QS57
RAM capacity: 4.00GB
Memory type: DDR3
Graphics chipset: Nvidia GeForce GT335M / Intel HD graphics
Graphics card RAM: 1.00GB

Would love some feedback on this, thanks!

Running at only 1.8Ghz while in Turbo mode, I would say your i5-520UM CPU is very underpowered and is the source of your bottleneck. NS2 responds very well to clock speeds in terms of gaining performance, and your CPU just can't keep up, even with dual core & hyper-threading.

Your GPU is "ok" -- nothing special, but it should play the game just fine with lower settings if you had a faster CPU.

If you have a laptop with both Intel and Nvidia graphics, try below:

^---- definitely try this to make sure you're getting the most out of your GPU

I'm inclined to think there's an issue with Nvidia. My Brand new Macbook Pro, 2.6 i7, 16GB, NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M plays this game so poorly vs my 2 year old iMac, 3.1Ghz i5, 16GB, ATI Radeon HD 6970M.

The above setting didn't make any difference to me whatsoever.

Yeah I had done what that moderator suggested by default. It is most likely my system specs then. Time to get a new pc if I can afford one. And word to the wise, never buy alienware, it has been a big expensive mistake on my part. :/
