<div class="IPBDescription">A few thoughts from a newcomer</div>Hey there,

First of all, hello to everyone. I'm mike, little french hardcore gamer from a few games (some casual ones, some technical, some independant, but a lot of for sure!), who started NS2 since the first official released date. I played competitively since 2006, organized a few events with ESL, built competitive play in my country for Left4dead and quake live, former aAa staff member and current Council Member for Riot Games. I've been casually playing NS1 with my best friend and was waiting quite a lot its release :-)

I have watched all the tutorial movies, played some games with AMAZING fellas who taught me a lot of tips, been watching a few mods on the workshop, saw how the games I played evolved and the players behaviour around me. Since then, I built a pretty good overall first impression and I hope the game will be tracked for forthcoming updates as well as it did during the beta :-)

I'll just deal with simple questions. If they are FAQ, please don't be mad at me and I'll be honored to see the topics you'll redirect me with the answers :)

1°) Is this forum read by the unknown worlds staff ?
Or do I have to go through GetSatisfaction ? If so, do I have the right to get the access in it ?

2°) What is the internal policy of UnknownWorlds ?
Do they keep secret of the content/updates they plan to release and the release order, or do they share it to the community ?

3°) Where are the best places to quickly track the developers next tasks ?

4°) What is the best thing I can do now to provide the most efficiently help to the dev team ?

5°) Why does EVERYONE prefers to play as marine ? (still don't get it ...)

Thanks everyone !

    Yes they read these forums.

They often share it, depends on what it is really. bugfixes they let us know about or balance changes. Big features generally get held back as a surprise of sorts.

<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->3°) Where are the best places to quickly track the developers next tasks ?<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    <a href="http://www.ns2hub.com/devtracker" target="_blank">http://www.ns2hub.com/devtracker</a>
    <a href="http://www.play4dead.com/ns2" target="_blank">http://www.play4dead.com/ns2</a>
They also used to have a tracker on tasks at <a href="http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns2/progress" target="_blank">http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns2/progress</a> but it has long since broken and has yet to be fixed.

When the game crashes always submit the log and report, if you find a bug PM a playtester or if it isn't game breaking just post it on the forums.

<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->5°) Why does EVERYONE prefers to play as marine ? (still don't get it ...)<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Marine is the most familiar thing to people as it is the standard FPS experience where you point, shoot and things die. Aliens are a bit...alien to people to say the least and takes getting used to.

    Wellcome :)

The forums are visited by everyone, and <u>all</u> posts are seen by by either a uwe staff member. Or a mod like myself, who will pass on any relevant info.

Nothing, and i realy meen nothing is being kept secret. Even the <b>entire game scourcecode</b> is opensource.

UWE is a extreamly small team, started as 3 then 4 for the first few years, and has now grown to 9 people.
0$ spend on marketing, and fully relying on the players to spread the word (or infestation if you will) of NS2.
So promoting NS2 or just telling your friends about it is the best help.
But realy, anything you can do, that being posting the bugs you find, modding, mapmaking, serverhosting - it all helps.
Only your imagination holds you back.
<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->5°) Why does EVERYONE prefers to play as marine ? (still don't get it ...)<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Probaly becouse its a more familiar setting compared to other FPS games, just like most new players starts out as Terran when they pick up Starcraft the first time.

    <!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->Thanks everyone !<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
    Glad to have you :)
