Why the lag?

Ok so I was wondering if anyone could help me out with a lag issue I have been having. Alright so specs first I have 2.2 gig hz Intel i3 with two physical processors and four logical. I have a Intel Hd® family graphics card up to date with drivers with Primary VRam of 1.3 gig and system ram of 6 gig. Now I now that this is less than optimal but the strange thing is that my framerate is in the playable range and it says 0ms when waiting for gpu always. Weird thing is I joined refinery last night and my framerate was smooth as silk for 30-60 seconds and I was running, confronting aliens attacking the hive and shooting skulks like a halloween kid on crack with no framerate drop. Then as I progressed further into playing I started stuttering like you wouldnt believe. So I was wondering what could cause this odd behviour in my computer? Any help from any source would be greatly appreciated.

    Its something about the game itself, the longer a round goes on and the more stuff is built/placed in the level. The harder your CPU has to work to keep it all smooth. And with 2.2GHz, you're bound to run into problems starting from mid game to end game.

    Is there anything I can do to help prevent this/fix it? Without buying a new computer obviously. Also since the devs are still optimizing might there still be hope for my cpu or am I pretty much stuck in lag central?
    On further consideration if all is lost what is a relatively cheap computer I could purchase that would run this game at recommended settings?

    You could lower your screen resolution as well as other details in your settings so it can handle more of the later games :)
