Freezing Ingame - No Crash

Hey Guys,

I'm having this strange problem where after about 10-15 minutes into a game, the screen freezes and there is no response until about 15 seconds later, when the screen goes black, flickers, and then resumes normal function (AKA I find myself respawning). It happens regardless of map and graphical settings (<b>I have tried turning on/off texture streaming, high/med/low texture settings, just about every other little effect off also. No change.</b>). Any ideas? I have my GPU OC'ed but I have burn-in tested it to make sure it is stable, same with my CPU. Specs are below:

Proc: Phenom 2 720 x3
8 GB GSKILL DDR3 1600 ram
Radeon 6850 1 GB VRAM
600W ModXStream PSU
OCZ Vertex 4 128GB SSD - I currently have Windows and Steam (+NS2) on this drive
Seagate Caviar Black 750GB - I moved NS2 to this to see if it made any difference, still froze. I moved the game files back after testing.
G400 Mouse and CM QuickFire Pro keyboard (I really doubt this is related but you never know)

Any thoughts or similiar experiences?

I get this from time to time. Its pretty rare though. I just assumed it's some weird bug. Sorry I don't have any more info.

Check r_stats 1 and net_stats 1 for any problems (see stuff that says "x ms waiting")

Never mind - I solved the problem. When I minimized to desktop, I noticed that a notification came up, saying, "AMD Display Driver has stopped responding". I updated my Catalyst drivers to the newest available and I haven't had a problem since. My drivers should have been updated a while ago, I don't know why I didn't try this originally.

Fix - Update to Catalyst Control Center 12.10 or 12.11.

I have had this exact issue. It seems most severe when entering a phase gate or new room on a map. I have not monitored my HDD but my GPU usage monitor drops to 0 when this occurs and looks as though its not processing any information. Graphics settings don't affect it at all and I also notice a ping spike when it occurs. I turned off multi threading on my i7 2600k due to a similar issue in BF3 when it came out and it is less severe but still unplayable at times.

I updated all network, chipset, and video drivers to no avail. My HDD is a fairly new 1TB 7200rpm 32mb and I have no issues in other games. (ie BF3, borderlands 2, firefall, planetside 2, everything maxed)

    Win 7 x64
    i7 2600k 3.4ghz @ 4.2ghz (tested stable with 40 c max temp)
    gtx 560 1gb EVGA factory superclock 850mhz
    4gb g.skill RAM 1600mhz

    @ Medx:
If updating catalyst control enter didnt work for you:
A high resolution video posted on youtube (unlisted) would be very helpful, with r_stats and net_stats on the screen.
    thanks

I'm using Catalyst 12.8 and I'm playing smooth as butter on my 5870 (:
