I cannot find any games

I have recently brought the game on steam i was a huge fan of the first natural selection. I am having a huge problem though i have installed the game i press on the play button and there are not any games/ servers showing up. Thanks in advance to any one that can help me

    Check your filter. You might be filtering out all of the games.

    When you click join game, your browser is the thing that takes up your entire screen and your filter is the fields and boxes at the top of it.

    Do you have any firewalls? Might have to allow outgoing connections from NS2.exe.

    Heh yeah i know that but what should the max ping be do i have to type in game type and map? And what should performance be i have refreshed tried quick join doesn't work either nothing shows up

    depending on where you are living, set the max ping to 280ish, the game is still very playable at that, and you'll see all the american servers :)

    remeber not to spam the refresh button, just hit it once and leave it 5-10 seconds :)

    Yeah, if you're in an out-of-the-way place, might have to loosen the ping filter. Might be there are simply no servers within 150 ping of you.

    Yeah i tired what you said typhoon it doesn't work andi have set the ping to 450 350 650 and unlimted still doesn't work. Thanks all for the help this is really frustrating i have waited so long to play and i cant!!!

    Another option - once you've gotten to the server browser, alt tab the game. See if there's a popup asking if you want to unblock NS2.exe. Go aheand and unblock it if there is.

    Yeah i can find games with the website that was given by TEch. Problem is that all the games ARE INSANLY LAGGY is there a mod that can answer my question i still cannot find games on my own through the play button

    My guess is your firewall, router, or ISP is blocking NS2 traffic.

    I havent tried 1.o (im still at work), but i've had this problem all throughout the beta..even on 225.

    Fix was i either use the web browser (Nanogrid), or i just shut down the game, and re-open it. It may take a few minutes for the browser to fill up, but it does work after a few minutes.

    When you're on a server, using the webbrowser if need be, type in 'r_stats 1' in console (the key above tab) to see your FPS. What you are experiencing is likely FPS lag, you will have to try lowering your settings until you get a reliable 30 - 40 FPS at least.

    Are you playing from a dorm/apartment/other network? Or is it your own private home connection?

    I am having the same issue. No firewall to block anything. I can occasionally get a list of servers but upon trying to connect (even to servers with minimal people on them), the connection fails. Tried playing with the filters, used nearly every option to see if it would change anything. Only time I can get a list usually right off the bat is if I restart NS2 and click play, each time I fail at connecting, I have to restart the game to get a new list.

    EDIT: Playing from a private network. Never have had any server list issues from other steam games, clueless on what could be causing the problem. Are there any special TCP/UDP ports that need to be opened on my router?

    Im also playing from private network i can run all my other games at 60 plus fps i never have fps problems. I checked the servers and they still do not work me and etrnl are having the same issues

    I would assume it's the heavy load of players trying to play and searching for servers right now considering the game just launched. Patience is a virtue :D. I will know shortly, as I am downloading the game as well.

    I have the same thing. It's not every time that I try to refresh the servers, just most of the time. Tried validating the game files, deleting the cache... nothing is helping. I even tried joined a server from steam friends list I was going to just call it a night and chalk it up to steam being overloaded until I jumped on teamspeak with the 420 guys and nobody else was having this issue. So I deleted everything and am redownloading now.

    This is on top of the crashing issues I am having, maybe a full re-download will help.

    This didn't happen in the beta.

    I just downloaded the game and am having the same issues. I get a server list on a fresh launch each time, but not after that.

    Having same problem. Had no trouble connecting to games when I last played about 6 months ago, so I'm not sure what's changed. "Timeout" and "Cannot connect to server" are the messages I get after a very long "Initializing..." and "Loading..."


    My own router, no problems with any other games etc etc.

    I was able to get into one server tonight with over two hours of attempts, then NS2 froze after about 45 minutes of playing. Hoping I can wake up tomorrow and be able to play without this issue. :(
