I myself love commanding, but I feel this community needs more commanders. Now these games weren´t the best perhaps, but I hope it can inspire some more people to take interest in playing as commander, and in the long run raise the level of public commanders.

Most people will probably be more interested in the FPS elements of this game imo. However as an avid SC2 player im more interested in commanding, I think commanders will always be in the minority. Its probably better off that way :P

Love how you're able to comm without even being in the hive.

Comming only works when people listen. In clan games, people will listen and execute without question. Good luck achieving the same teamwork, organization/positioning, and timing in pub games (even with a mic). I mean, generally people will listen, but the experience is nowhere near that of playing a clan game.

I comm a lot in public, and it can work to be honest, you just have to be creative with your language :D.
In general though, call out names, pub players are going to be more inclined to follow your orders if they are personally addressed. (And don't hesitate to use some relatively innocent colourful or funny language) Try to inspire, but also be able to admit when a game is lost (without necessarily blaming that on your players, it's not always easy but it won't win you any favour)

But yeah, of course pub comming is a whole different level from competitive. Either way, it's incredibly fun.

I kind of disagree with this, FP really only gives you an idea of a players accuracy.

The top down view of RTS is where you can see player movement, positioning, decision making and team work. You can really see how the game evolves.

I comm in pubs all the time. Usually in three minutes you know if your team will work well together.

I've also learned berating the non responsive players doesn't help them get better. All in all, you can have amazingly good games as comm, but there needs to be more willing to get in the chair.

I love commanding, but sometimes you need a break.

    Good job on the videos!

Also as a dedicated comm, I sometimes really wish there was more depth to the RTS side of it all. Particularly as aliens the current situation is pretty dull, you may as well write an AI script to do it.

I prefer alien commanding, personally. It's a bit more laid back in the sense of medpacks/resupply, but I'm constantly placing drifters ont he map, cysting all PG locations, and listening for marine movement.I never get tired as alien comm, and I've plenty to do. And unless I'm in a lock, and we're trying to free up a tech point, I'm always upgrading, or dropping onos eggs. That's to me the best feature.

Marines have me turtled to two hives? Better push fast because all I'm doing is dropping onos eggs with my res, and recysting necessary places. It supercedes heal points, forward shifts, etc. I don't do that until end game, or stalemate.

I do agree I'd like to NOT have to go celerity/shift eggs, but until the devs speed up base skulks by 1-2, and make egg spawning proportional to the player count, there's no choice.

Any who want to be a comm, or specifically marien comm
Be aware it can be a grand headache, specialy pubs, people might not listen, people spamming medpack requests etc.
    People arent considerate.

Thank you all for watching the videos. I´m very happy you appreciate them!

I don´t play pub as much as I used to, but when I do and go com, I always get the feeling that people listens very much indeed. I rarely experience public players ignoring orders or disregarding them. To me it seems like most actually enjoys playing pub in a more organized fashion (compared to otherwise seemingly random natured pub games I experience with silent coms). And if someone now would be ignoring orders, don´t go screaming and beeing rude. Just ignore them back and continue giving orders to those who actually listens. Eventually, they will turn around and start listening when they experience that its way more fun to play as a team which is somewhat organized.

And every pub com will of course experience people saying that one should do this and one should do that (like dropping PG everywhere, getting turrets etc). Just say that you are doing another tech route and that you would appreciate if they would work with you as opposed to against you.

And yes, as marine com you will be overwhelmed by all requests from time to time, especially if you are new. But if you practice, your mechanics and APM will be eventually be good enough, and suddenly you start to think it gets boring when you arent overwhelmed!

Just remember to use the mic and be nice.

Thanks for uploading those, it was interesting to watch.

BTW all the recordings seem to have been repeated in the second half of the video with no sound.
