I can also finally get a good 60 fps going if I go into an empty room and hug the corner while facing the wall. End game fps is still terrible though. Still get huge fps drops in combat and when entering a hive/marine base with people inside. I was on a 20 player serv earlier, 30 ticks, 45 fps, walk inside hive with fighting going on, drop down to 20. Waited for the "big" performance gains at release, pretty disappointed. Client and Server performance is still nowhere near acceptable.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Sorry to hear that, I imagine you have a very old CPU. I rarely dip under 30 in high action on hive areas with an old Q6600 (OC'd to 3.4) and 560ti @ 1080p, all settings on except AA, AO and atmospherics.
Phenom II X4 940@3.4 GHz 4GB DDRII AMD 6950@6970 2GB
I'm getting around 70 fps when walking around and 50ish in combat. 1650x1080, textures medium, AA on, Bloom on, AF on, everything else off. Finally I'm able to enjoy this game, I can actually hit things and the overall experience is pretty smooth.
Now, when I look at r_stats it always says waiting for GPU 0 fps. Yet when I increase the settings (e.g. adding shadows since it makes a HUGE difference in terms of atmosphere) I still drop by a dozen frames, in combat it feels like even more. Shoudn't settings like shadows, AA and HBAO be totally up to the GPU?
i5 2500k @ 4,5GHz GTX 470 1920x1200 high settings, but all other candy turned off
I get > 60 fps all the time on 16 player servers, but sometimes dip below that in end game in larger servers. It's finally satisfactory. Avg. fps increase was something like 25% for me.
