can dead marine's dropped guns currently be destroyed?

seems marines on Defense at last base -- inevitable loss, can keep going and going because they can just recycle the weapon they paid for minutes ago --- something like gorge spit/spray makes medpacks/ammo/guns on the floor melt would be sweet --- only gorge though

just an idea // can see a wave of emo rine reaction coming

Someone had the idea to let gorge spit, or infestation break weapons on the ground, I think that'd be an excellent idea to at least give aliens the ability to somewhat mitigate the endless marine recycling of weapons.

Skulk or lerk picking up and dropping it Off the map was the best idea iv heard

yeah! even the ability to just move the guns somewhere else would do the trick too :O ---give to a whip, they start using it as stationary defense :P SHOTGUN TURRETS GOOOO

I think I heard somewhere that stuff dropped on infestation vanishes faster. This could be false or might have been removed, though. Just thought I'd mention. Can anyone confirm?

No, the only thing you can do when you somehow by the grace of Zeus take a shot-gunning Marine down as a skulk is... to wait for him to come back and get his SG back (or his buddy).

Sure, having a weapon on the ground enables you to prepare a nice little ambush for the marine, but let us not forget that he still has his AR to shoot you with during that nice little ambush, and your skulk is likely at below 50 health without armor. Takes about 2 shots, if you know what I mean...

Meanwhile, when a lerk/fade dies, 30/50 res is lost and unrecoverable.

It's the game, I guess. Somehow it works. Basically, as a marine you get to try, and try again. As alien you make one mistake and you're done.

Instead of giving Aliens the ability to take away the fun (from marines), I would prefer to see Aliens recover partial cost of lifeforms when they die.

Aliens are punished too harshly for dying, in multiple ways: high cost lifeforms, long down time for re-evolving, and they cannot recover the "weapons" off fallen teammates.

I really like that idea.

Being able to "pick up DNA" or whatever it could potentially be called is no more reducing the cost of alien life forms as being able to pick up shotguns is reducing the cost of shotguns slightly.

I made a video of lerk picking up weapons and dropping them into crevice long ago, it took 10 minutes to mod and was working pretty well.

Lifeforms recycling seems too complicated, compared to removing bad mechanics like random no res while dead. The game has already a lot of convoluted mechanics.

Here's the thread: Ideas and Suggestions: Gorge Weapon Devour. Gorge piñatas anyone?

I would like to be able to revive fallen lifeforms as gorge. (As long as the player of this life form isn't respawned.)
The gorge would need to healspray the corpse several times to make this act risky. Also we may need to prolong the respawn times of the aliens to make it effective. But instead of a plain increase I would like to evolve the last chosen upgrades automatically. This would add the gestation time to the respawntime and give the gorge more time to revive a fallen buddy.
Than again, the upgrades need to be reassignable without hypermutation...

Gorge does need T3 ability... Weapon Devore and revive do seem promising

It seems odd that marine weapons are both cheaper than lifeforms and recyclable...

Weapon devour would be way too late as a T3, and pretty ######. It should just be a basic ability.

It would devalue higher alien lifeforms if you could get them faster. Already you can get them pretty fast, but not instantly.
Altho marine res flow should probably be toned down just a notch so their Pres -items would feel more valuable as well. Currently they can be pretty much fully equipped all the time.

Yuuki once made a mod, where you could pickup guns as a lerk and drop them somewhere else.

He also had a video, but unfortunately he closed his youtube account.

How about this.

Marines who die holding their weapon have it destroyed. Guns thrown on the ground last 50% longer than they currently do.

You can move dropped items like shotgun, flamethrowers, medpacks, etc... on the floor as a gorge by spitting at them. I don't think anyone really tries to do this though...

I think it's pretty lame, the pushing power I mean. This would make an easy fix tho, just let all bites/swipes/spikes etc alien damage move weapons. Would be fun and easy. Might have an effect on performance? All those weapons flying around. Doubt it tho.

Skulk kills shotgun marine -> Skulk proceeds to bite weapon, prodding it along till he's sure it has enough time to vanish. Fun little task. "Where the @#*! did you take my weapon?!" :)

I didn't know that. If it's fixed to be more usable it would quickly become tedious though. Like curling. In space.
• MestaritonttuMestaritonttu Join Date: 2004-07-29 Member: 30229Members, Reinforced - Shadow, WC 2013 - Gold
Nah I think it'd just be a curiosity. I mean, how many times does a marine:

1: Die, dropping purchased weapon
2: Weapon is dropped within 30 sec running distance from his spawn
3: There are no marines to stop you from curling.

Stuff.

Besides, how boring it is is simply a matter of gun gravity. Put it on moon-level, one chomp and the shotty goes WHEEE into the nearest gorge. ...as in, a pit, not an actual gorge, though that's also possible...

A few builds ago gorge spit could send weapons flying, have they toned it down a bit recently?
• MestaritonttuMestaritonttu Join Date: 2004-07-29 Member: 30229Members, Reinforced - Shadow, WC 2013 - Gold
Tbh I haven't tried it. I'm having trouble taking down shotgun marines with my gorge. 8/0 against LMGers though. I love the new spit.
