Small chance a cyst explodes into spores on destruction?

<div class="IPBDescription">^^^</div>Could alien commander possibly research some passive trait for cysts .. that there's a very small chance a destroyed cyst could explode in a burst of spores (small cloud like lerk spores)

or allow Cysts to 'mature' and gain this chance automatically (like a 4% chance) ..

    Spores or even some kind of fluid that hurts if if you walk on it. It could be dark orange!

    Infestation should just slow marines down much more than it does right now (or speed up aliens, or both). % chance of something happening sounds like a RPG more than a RTS/FPS.

    I'm planning on starting a mod (after release, since I don't have the game yet) that does a whole lot of little tweaks, upgrading cysts being one of the very first ideas I came up with for it.

    I made a thread about it somewhere around here, I'll post a link in a second.

    personally from a public game perspective. infestation is more of a limiter than a aid.
    example for the nano grid double RT spots, while marines can capture and hold the locations aliens find it very difficult as a cyst is needed to connect and it becomes easily destroyed.

    I hope that the cyst mechanism is improved such that perhaps the HP of a cyst increases exponentially after a set timing (EG 2 mins) or that it "burrows" into the the ground is takes reduced damage and/or only view-able to marines after OBS or Scanning is done.

    Secondly cyst should cost 1 res and come in bundles of 3 perhaps available as a side Icon with a cyst logo and the numbers remaining

    Thirdly in synergy with cyst, a line of "infestation" upgrades could be researched by the commander
    Eg
    "Gooey ground - Reduce marine MS by a further XX%"
    "Poison spores - When marines bullets hit the infestation poison is released and cause blurred vision; perhaps patches on the marine HUD "
    Others such as alien movespeed ++ / Regen ++ / Energy ++

    Lastly "Individual infestation cyst - Creates infestation without being connected"

    As of now typically aliens only can realistically get the RT outside their main hive and side hive. While capturing of hives is limited largely to the neighboring hive.

    marine movement reduction on creep was removed a long time ago since it was slowing down gameplay far to much and backtracking was pretty much meant you couldn't go anywhere

    Since they are orange perhaps Umbra would be more appropriate?
    Might be nice to have it so you can suicide them for Umbra...
    Don't know really... Honestly the current "activated use" is pointless. :|

    Throwing a dice on whether or not you get poisoned when you're killing things? No thanks. Predictability? Yes please.

    I'm sure a way could be found to make something like that work, but for the love of all things sacred to the game, don't make it a gamble.

    The cyst rupture isn't pointless, it's just not powerful enough to be very useful :-) . It's still useful, just missing a tiny buff.

    +1 It would make it a hazard to axe them. Other weapons would cause the area to be harmful for a short time.

    Nah it really is useless, I used to use it ALL the time... never actually accomplished anything.
    Considering it COSTS resources, reduces the cyst to 1/5th its hp and you have to wait for a cyst
    to reach 100% maturity before you can use it... its useless.
