Unable to Play In-game Training Videos

I have been having the issue in NS2 that I am unable to play any of the videos on the Training page or the video that is offered when the server browser is opened. I have previously mentioned this in my posts in the explore mode thread but believe now it is likely unrelated and so have started this new topic.
A quick recap of the remedial actions I have undertaken follows:
- installed the specific flash player for use with steam
- enabled steam community in-game (previously disabled)
Re-enabling steam community in-game has changed the nature of the issue, instead of nothing happening when one of the video links is clicked now a youtube page in a steam browser window pops-up but only stays open for a few seconds before closing and going back to NS2. Alt-tabbing dosen't reveal any open windows.
Is anyone else having this problem?

Videos do not work for me or the video that was offered when the server browser is opened. I assumed they were not finished programming that feature but now you got me wondering. I do have steam community in-game enabled but currently nothing happens when click or double click on any of them.
A made the following changes:
- Ticked the "automatically login to friends..." option in Steam settings.
- uninstalled Microsoft Security Essentials
I uninstalled MSE after I noticed it was using a ridiculous amount of cpu even when the computer was idle, the process is listed as msmpeng.exe in task manager and is also associated with Windows Defender. Sadly because I made both changes before opening NS2 I couldn't say which made the difference though I would now recommend uninstalling MSE as a matter of course.
Link to an article about msmpeng.exe -> <a href="http://helpdeskgeek.com/windows-vista-tips/what-is-msmpeng-exe/" target="_blank">http://helpdeskgeek.com/windows-vista-tips...is-msmpeng-exe/</a>
fixed 4 me
I realize now that Enabling "Steam Community In-game" on Steam's IN-GAME settings tab was not sufficient. I forgot(?) I had removed the In-Game Overlay from NS2 (Right click game,Properties etc) or is it off by default? Anyways I turned it on for the game itself and the videos work fine.
Maybe some day NS2 could detect if the overlay is active and give a message on fail.
