Im in a price range of $120, any recommendations? I haven't been into gaming for awhile and this game has brought me back, my low profile card just isn't cutting it. I would prefer nvidia, they seem to work better for when i am on my linux os. I am eyeing a nvidia gtx 560 ti se.
Thanks

NS2 is all about your CPU for the most part. Personally im using an XFX HD 6870x2 but ones plenty. You can pick them up for about 150$.

My radeon 7770 runs the game fine, my cpu is the bottleneck (AMD FX-4170), so since mine is equiv to gtx 460 I believe you should be more then fine with a gtx 560. Put a little more money into your cpu if your specifically upgrading for NS2.
I think this setup is enough to run the game at constant 60+ fps when some more performance patches go in.
Used the same vid card on an older system and upgrading to a faster processor made all the difference in the world. When this card dies I'll upgrade it but for now I'm still happy w/ it.

Ill sell you my 5 month old, never overclocked hd6870 for $110 if you want =P It's about as good as a gtx 560 ti.
I got a sweet deal on a 7850 that I couldn't pass up.
Sent you a PM buddy
I suggest you something else than gtx 560 ti... it's not that great. Try getting 570 instead, or get hd6970

No need for a good video card.
For casual play, a triple GTX 690 will probably be fine.
P.S. Seriously... find a used 570 or something.
The card I am using is GeForce GTX 460 which is like 2-3 years old. And, it runs NS2 beautiful. So, The GTX 550 ti with 2gb! and 192-bit! will be flawless!
Looks like the highest performing GPU's within your price range would be the:
GTX 560 - $122.99
HD 7770 - $119.99
GTX 550 Ti - $114.99
GTX 650 - $114.99
Any of those would work, but that GTX 560 @ $122.99 is probably the best performance/value out there right now.
To other posters, please post your resolutions when you're telling what FPS you're getting. It does no good to say you're getting 60, 80, 1 billion fps without a resolution. You could be running at 2560x1600 or higher... or a lowly 800x600. Without resolution, your numbers are meaningless.

HD 7770 is basically exactly the same. I would just choose between the two based on which is on sale or if you can get an open box or smth. I got 10% off my card for an open box.
Type r_stats in console, under the fps line is x ms waiting for gpu. If it's 0, you're cpu limited.
