Model Consistency Problem

I reinstalled ns, everything worked fine(didn't know it made a backup folder with the replacements I had) when i joined a server with the consistancy on it told me that "server is enforcing shell.mdl" which is not in the ns folder. Does anybody know whats wrong, I think it may be the HD pak I have installed but I'm not sure.

installing the server version won`t help because ur a client...
u can`t do anything because some servers activate a consistencycheck that checks the size of every *.mdl, if its not the same size like the standard *.mdl u can`t join the server
-->this should protect others from spikecheaters

Actually, there are a few models in the patch . . . . it does help for some servers.

Yes, this is a server patch but it fixes all client side consistency problems if you don't have custom models installed.

What i dont get is why dont they just make a more simpler consistancy checker???

as of right now you are forced to have the default models (on some servers may I add)
but with CS, DOD and other mods the consistancy checker just watches how big the files are thus stopping weapons being the size of goal posts

Because coding that takes time. And Flayra doesn't have that when making small updates. Also, people were making bright orange marines/aliens so they were easy to see no matter where they were, so a simple size check didn't help.

Maybe something more effcient will be added in the future.

    [Have no clue about coding]
But if we made a poll about which custom model (probably alien models) that works with the consistancy check so we're allowed to play with them? If most of the community allow it...
