<div class="IPBDescription">There was a feature like that on alpha/early beta.</div>Who played during alpha and early beta?? Do you remember the colored squads from the commander view?
Now that i play a lot commander, i really miss that feature which made the job of commanding easier and intuitive.
To bring back the memories, colored squads automatically gathered the closest marines and made a blue/red/etc halo around them from the commander view, and a little text was showed to the members to tell them which color they had attributed.
- The commander could ask the blue/red/etc squad to move in that room or divide up without asking each of them by their name their orders.
- Furthermore, the colors were visible from the minimap: the commander don't have to look in the sector to see the names and can tell each every squads their orders without moving his camera elsewhere than the important points.
- One more thing: there is sometimes names that you can't even read or pronounce which leads to confusions...
To sum it up, bring back this feature which had only advantages for the Marines, clarified his view a lot and allowed him to have a more global view without telling "you in elevator transfer, move to elevator overlook plz." and the guy won't do anything because h doesn't feel concern about that order...
I agree that the design needs to be remade but for newbies and pub it is an absolute need :)
EDIT: Here is an example from a very old version x) i remember the latest update to this feature was much better:

in case there will be more of a pre-game (e.g. some time for the teams to decide who will command), it'd be nice if the commander could somehow assign squads permanently (with a quick and easy way to manually create/delete/update them during the match).
this would allow for "squad left-side" and "squad right-side" or "squad for harassing enemy base" or a spontanious "exo+support squad".
imo squad names should remain colors, numbers or something else abstract (alpha, beta) as it is simply much cooler that way.
Something along the lines of Battlefield would be pretty cool, IMO.
