Client and Server Differ Issue

So, I've regularly attempted to play NS2 since the alpha came out in July. I've never once been able to play in a game server.

Regular reinstalls, double checked updates, opened ports, etc, and it's never worked. So far I've been patient, but it's getting pretty frustrating.

I'm still getting "Server and Client Differ" messages. Any ideas why this would still be happening?

I use the Steam installer, if that helps.

I really want to play :(

Puzzling. I assume you've updated everything to the latest, haven't modified any files, checked integrity of game cache. Maybe it's just getting corrupted at some point, before you run the game. Any problems with anything else? Malware scan?

have you always had good AV & FW?
some viruses/malware add data to all executables, it would then differ...

Post your log %appdata%\Natural Selection 2\log.txt after trying to connect to a server

Here's the log txt. I'm pretty sure viruses aren't the issue. I regularly format my main drive, and I've had zero issues in any other area - just NS2.

Is there a way to install the game outside of Steam anymore?

When everything fails, try to delete game content (even the folder if it's there after steam delete) and then re-install.
If the folder remains after you did a delete content within steam is because you have other files in the folder different from the game files itself. When you only have a vanilla installation and delete the game from Steam the folder is deleted too, or at least is what happened to me.

If you don't have any updated antivirus (and legally acquired), most probably you have a malware in your system.

Anyway, try what I did to solve this issue, delete all content / re-install.

I didn't think of deleting the local folders after I told Steam to delete local content, so I'm going to try that. Just deleted both the appdata and the steam/common/naturalselection2 folders. We'll see if that does it.

Those errors in your log are definitely the problem. The only way I could see that happening is if your installation is corrupted.

max its the file search path order you know ns2 before core in earlier builds you had Actor.lua in the ns2 directory steam doesn't always clean up stale files
random bonus trivia for people core was searched first before ns2 in very early builds

kevincheese delete Actor.lua from your natural selection 2\ns2\lua\ folder
