Dont get it
The newest 306.23 - WHQL Driver from Thu Sep 13, 2012 has taken me down to 26 fps sitting in the main menu screen with the lowest settings (also r_fog false) and every possible tweak i could perform on my laptop. With the 301.42 - WHQL from Tue May 22, 2012 I got 65-70 fps in the main menu screen.
I know this is not the correct way to check your performance but for low end system it is a good pointer how well it runs. With the old driver and all the tweaks (except over clocking) i could get 20 fps during really intense team fights and 40 fps in small roaming fights.
It seems that the new patch is making NS2 wait for my GPU at 30ms which is probably the problem.
I got the patch because of planeside 2 and it runs fantastically now, but to be honest I would rather play NS2 at the moment.
Last note my DPC Latency is stabilized at 175 us at desktop idle.
PC SPECS:
ASUS N53SV notebook
i5-2410M 2 cores 4 threads @ 2.3 ghz
Nvidia GT 540M
DDR3 1333 MHz SDRAM 4 GB
500GB 7200rpm With 4 G SSD
