Aliens lay eggs that you defend until it hatches

Just a random idea in my head. Not thought about it from a gameplay perspective but in my head that sounds pretty cool to me!

So instead of becoming this egg that slowly gestates and is vulnerable... you lay an egg which you must then protect or leave.

So if you're a skulk you lay the egg then can just run off and continue to attack Marines or stick around and defend it. Once you die or once the egg hatches you die and become the new evolved creature.

Do what you will with this probably already thought up idea!

    We should make gorges sit on the eggs to incubate them too.. makes more sense then spraying eggs with stanky spit.

    What Skulky dont know is that Gorge was a ###### and cheating with several other lifeforms especially onos. - True Story.

    Against this Idea :>. Dont need gangbanging aliens who put eggs everywhere. The Hive is responsible for this. Thats why its so important to save it.

    fade would get all the aliens pregnant, fades be sexy and blink right away.
    The problem with guarding your egg is that you won't be able to destroy marine res or attack for fear of losing your onos egg.

    I meant that if you die, you old body dies but you now have the current gestation view from the egg and then become the Onos so you have nothing to lose.

    Also not talking about Aliens putting eggs everywhere. It would be the same as it is now when you evolve but instead you get to run around first... maybe it kills the whole "zomg someone is coming!" thing.

    a recipe i came up with myself: tornado egg!
    use two eggs, scramble both except the yolk of one of the eggs. your scrambled eggs consist of 1 yolk and 2 white-of-egg which still tastes like scrambled eggs, but you get 1 yolk as a bonus. i called it tornado-egg because you have this calm yolk (= eye of the storm) in the middle of your scrambled chaos (= tornado). it takes some practise to not injure the yolk, but even if you do, you can still make normal scrambled eggs as a plan B.

    Would be nice if the eggs had some form of very mild spawn protection like PGs and IPs have. If an alien is sat in melee range of the IP or PG they get knocked back slightly when peopel come through, its far enough to allow someone to get a bunny hop off and just gives you a chance. For aliens you spawn with no upgrades and usually get instagibbed by either a GL (absolutely fine, thats its job) or a shotgun/LMG. Its pretty lame all in all

    Maybe a new lifeform, something like a queen, wich has more health then a fade but less then the onos. Its abillity could be to lay eggs on the map where you can spawn and attack with acid rocket or something like this to close the lack of range dmg.
