LerkLift

I personally loved and played NS1 for a very long time. I remember there were servers with the LerkLift mod, and I thought that was a genius move. I think it would be a good idea to implement it into NS2 because of the following reasons: First off lerks seem to be a little underpowered, and from reading a previous post, most people tend to agree that they lack a good support role. Second, I believe enabling lerks to pick up gorges, with the bile bomb ability upgrade, can make games much more interesting. I do believe that it should slow the lerk down, and make it harder for them to keep altitude, but the ability to have a fly-by bilebomb squad for those marines that hold up with pg's, armories, and turrets seems to be a worthwhile idea. I think also having the ability to pick up eggs would be nice too. It wouldn't be much different from ants carrying ant eggs out of harms way. This way precious fade and onos eggs can be re-positioned out of the line of fire in base raids.

They denerfed the lerk somewhat in 219. Lerklift would also be the ultimate troll move. Lift a marine and drop him into crevice... Oh I would love it.

Would be good as a mod, but adding it as a core in ns2 doesn't sound good imo.

I still think it would be a good idea, not just as a mod. When I go lerk, there really isn't much for me to do, but hang on ceilings and try to peck marines with my spikes before they notice me hiding up there. It could give the lerk a new role, the relocater. Move eggs, and gorges to better areas, more of a worker/support class imo.

Just tell me how you're going to do it as "server side" mod (one that doesn't require changing game from NS2 to other one) while making it prediction-correct. It'd require NS2 devs to allow uploading code executed in sandbox on client.

Hmm, I would like this idea as a mod but how would this work? Would these abilities be in a new unit instead and at a higher cost? I was thinking of a heavy flying unit(Charlie seems excited about this) and it would require the combination of a lerk and a gorge :D. DBZ FUSION of a two headed flying unit that have the homogenization of gorge and lerk skill sets. I was thinking of adding a devour into it where the flying unit would devour the unit whilst digesting it and the ability to spit the unit out later, this would be similar to the lerk lifting the unit into the air.

Problems with doing this mod would require maybe a new model for the flying unit but you could use the lerk in its place temporarily and apply the skill sets.

I might mess around with this idea and see if how it works out. I am just learning the tools so it would be difficult for me :D

edit: blah wasn't reading clearly, I think the default press use to lift up targets seems appropriate.

The lerk would probably need more HP and usually more HP means more res cost if it was going to be able to lift something. Also you know there will be trolls and anger when some lerk lifts a gorge into a bottomless pit or into Exo fire but trolling happens with other mechanics in the game and shouldn't be the reason not to implement something.

omfg why isn't lerk lift in ns2 as a standard feature?! :D

its a team play feature - we need more of these!

edit: there are plenty of ways to balance / de-troll this.
only thing i disagree with is that i think gorges should be the ones to move eggs as they are the gardeners :)
