<div class="IPBDescription">Make it old school , NS1. Finally a skill-based game :D</div>Hello beloved community :)

Remove all the indication that tells when something is happening. Example, all from POWER LOST in a specific area, or HIVE/CC is going down and telling which area it is. It feels like a computer telling me what to do. Same when playing as a commander with constantly hearing request of ammo/med for the marines. Which in this case reveals the marines positions to the aliens and giving me a headache as a commander to hear all the spams. Everything feels so automatic when it comes to informing the players.

I as a player want to learn my surrounds and pay attension to it. Feels more exciting that way :)

What happen with a skilled commander who was in charge if the battle overview. Telling marines when a hive/cc is going down? Where the best skilled commander could handle that?

Any thoughts? What do YOU prefer? ^^

An option to toggle them would be cool, such as you had with tooltips in NS1. Once you've played NS2 for a while you start watching the map more than anything else anyway.

That would be a nice solution. Great idea :D

Considering how 50% of pubbers don't know what the "c" key does, I think this is a terrible idea. The option too disable it is fine though. It seems as though UWE knows this though, they're already rolling out some toggles, like the red CC/hive icons.

You do realize that "puppers" will learn to use c. By pressing on letter c on the keyboard. Once accomplished that you will have fluid gameplay without interuptions. Thats when skills will come into action

NS1 didn't have powernodes, so would be very painful of the alerts were removed.

I don't see a problem about something that you can toggle and encourages new players to keep playing...

Pressing C to bring up the map is a gameplay interruption.

Atleast you can choose when to interupt gameplay by pressing c, then have lots of thing appears in your screen in the heat of battle :(

Notifications, hints, tips and help are only going in one direction: More. More helpful, better designed, more contextual, more often.

If NS2 is to be more than a niche product enjoyed by a small, highly skilled group of people, this is unavoidable.

There will eventually be an option in the main menu to remove almost the entire HUD except for a few critical elements such as health. Those players that do wish to remove things like power node banners will be able to use that.

Without qualification? In an FPS/RTS hybrid, I think it's entirely appropriate to take in tactical and strategic information.

I'm very happy to read this. While I would like to disable this hints, I seem to be the minority that understands, that this game needs to get more accessible to get a long living and big community. So I can have more fun with this game. Stop being such spoiled elitists and instead think about the new players that really try to have fun with this game. And most of all, learn from the failures of NS1.

There is no skill in knowing where to go and when. This is only knowledge. You want to hide this knowledge or at least make it more difficult for new player to learn this. But you are most likely the first that rages about all the newbs, that play ###### and run around the map headless.

Again: There is no skill in knowing when to go to techpoint X. This is basic knowledge you need to have fun with the game. The only skill in this regard is at the commander in order to interpret the situation and send his troops in the right direction.
