NS2 really glitchy for me

I just got NS2 a day or two ago and I have not had much luck being able to play the game. First I was completely unable to join a game until I downloaded the DirectX and PhysX things that were mentioned in another help thread. That allowed me to get into the game and search for servers, but my playtime is extremely limited. The will crash shortly after I am playing a game. Also, sometimes I cannot select "Play" or any of the other options in the main menu screen and I will have to restart the game just so I can be able to get that screen to work. Does anyone have any suggestions?

This is my computer hardware:

Processor: AMD Phenom II X4 960T 3.00 GHz

RAM: 8GB

OS: Windows 7 64 bit

GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6800 series

SSD: OCZ Vertex 3

    Update:

    Just a few things I have done so far to eliminate some variables. I referenced this thread <a href="http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns2/forums/index.php?showtopic=111496" target="_blank">http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns2/forums/in...howtopic=111496</a>. I have opened up the specified ports on my router. I don't know how to turn off Catalyst AI so I just set it to the "Performance" side of the bar. NS2 is enabled in my firewall. My graphics drivers are up to date. And I have verified the integrity of the game cache.

    Basically, my game encounters a "Fatal Error" and causes me to submit a bug report. I'll try to copy the files next time it happens.

    Whats your soundcard, have you tried updating drivers?

    The "Network message 'xxx' already registered" stuff should only happen when hotloading new/modified files... This is pretty strange. Faulty SSD or RAM?

    My sound is just the sound from the motherboard. I have no soundcard. I haven't tried playing ns2 since the error and I forgot to save it so I don't know what is the end line. I am gonna reinstall ns2 and if I get the error again I will paste the full thing. Thanks for the responses.

    I reinstalled NS2 and now I can't even get past the menu screen. I verified integrity of game cache, dl'd physx and the directx from the troubleshooting thread. My drivers are up to date and should not be the problem.

    Try going to %APPDATA%\Natural Selection 2\ and deleting your cache folder.

    This has nothing to do with soundcards or anything. The error spam is from hotloading modified files, so <b>something</b> (Anti-Virus program?) is modifying the NS2 files while the game is running.

    I deleted the cache folder, still got a crash 20 seconds into the game. Game crashed a couple times before I got into the server too. As far as the antivirus program issue. I tried opening ports 27000-27100 or whatever was suggested in another tech help thread, but my game was still crashing, and additionally I could not join tf2 servers until I closed those ports back up, so I just left them closed. NS2 is allowed on my AVP firewall. Windows firewall is managed by my AVP so the windows firewall settings aren't relevant I think. Is there something else I should check?

    EDIT: Could it be that I need to install DX9 instead of DX11?

    Finally played an entire game all the way through. Verified the integrity of the steam cache (nothing was wrong, and I had done it already a few days ago), and I played a game all the way through. I don't think verifying the integrity actually did anything, but that was all I did between my last crash and playing the game all the way through. I'll update if there are more crashes tomorrow. Bed time for now.

    I reinstalled NS2 (had to search for all NS2 folders and files and delete before reinstalling) and I have been able to get through some games. However, I still have to restart NS2 one time before I can interact with the main menu screen. And my game typically crashes again upon trying to join a server, or maybe I will get to the team join stage and crash. After that I was able to play a couple games. I don't know what could be causing this, but it has gotten slightly better since reinstalling.

    Back to crashing for me today. Yeah I have the menu crash too. After that I can join a game, but often crashes within a minute. These crashes only started since yesterday and I haven't touched any configuration for more than a week, aside from that new patch and some automatic windows update.

    I used system restore to go back a few days, right before those problems started to manifest themselves. The game is stable, for now.

    I have had the same issues for months now. I'll launch the game and can't interact with the menu. I'll close it and relaunch and then when I try to connect to a server it will crash. Then I relaunch and it connects to a server and lets me join a team but crashes when I spawn. Relaunch and it lets me spawn but crashes as soon as I take any damage. I think the best I've managed so far is the tail end of one match it didn't crash for. Oh and random weirdness with graphics for the time while I'm in, like the alien build screen missing graphics/text and staying on screen after it should have closed and so forth.

    I've tried verifying, reinstalling, manually installing the different things listed, disabling the steam overlay, messing with graphics settings and such and nothing seems to really work.
