MAC follows you

<div class="IPBDescription">if you press E on it</div>IF you go up to a MAC and press your use button on it, it will follow you at a 2 or 3 meter distance, it will help you build, and repair buildings and players (including yourself).

The commander can "lock" a MAC if he does not want players taking a particular anywhere, and it will remain under commander only control. Or if the comm is waiting for a big marine push and is saving up some MACs until then etc etc.

The MAC would change eye color to red to indicate that the commander has locked it.

I like the idea of a pet MAC :)

I think to simply the commanders job, however, the follow mechanism should only be activated by the commander, by selecting the MAC and right clicking the marine.

Or better yet, the commander has the ability to tether a MAC to a specific player....when the player dies (and if the MAC survives) it will go into standby mode....

I suggested earlier that if you have the single barrel mech you could use your mech hand to grab a Mac.... Then you can carry it where ever you want..... Lol to the comm as all the mech steal his macs

The claw is busy, so you can't melee with it anymore, but your armor self-heals? I see a "Grand Theft MAC" mod in the future :)

i'd be happy about some way to prevent MACs from automagically following you everywhere: they tend to follow a marine until he is weldet, which can cause them to leave the base just enough to be in a vulnerable location. it kind of reminds me of harvesters in c&c who don't give a damn about hostile presence... add to that they can easily block a marines path of retreat if you have a bunch of them.

Naturally MACs should have a max follow distance, also they should be "bound" to the spot they're first placed at, so that once they're done welding they return to where they previously were. If the welding was initiated automatically, that is. These are all basic RTS pathing stuff. :p

I'd like to say I'd want commanders to be able to make MACs follow players automatically - but I think it might be OP. Just being able to assign each EXO 5 personal MAC guardians that you don't have to manage in any way sounds a little too convenient.

if you are commander and right click on a player when you have a MAC selected the mac should follow that player. Or the MAC needs a 'follow' button which you can use on a player. It's not really fun having to move MACs around all the time, literally selecting them and moving them 5 meters.

I think the simplest solution would be to allow the com to select a location and have a set radius that the Mac can go from this point. This way they don't leave an area chasing damaged players... It's like zone defence, and have a "roaming" setting where the Mac will patrol its area ensuring everything is good...

Also allow the com to select a mech as the zone for the Mac, since mechs can't use phase gates, or beacon it should be easy for the Mac to keep up...

This would be better. Otherwise marines will take idle MACs and get them killed. As a commander I don't want to have to set something every time I build a MAC, just to stop marines getting them killed.
