How to placate a performance rager

this is important information
We've all encountered them, some of us are "them", the people who rage about performance issues. Whether it be latency issues, frame rate issues, or both, some people get really hot under the collar abut this kinda stuff. Here are some important tips on how not to provoke these already raging mad individuals.
1. Don't try to understand
If you think an individuals demonstration of fury and rage is completely idiotic and unnecessary, stop right there. Its already clear that you either don't really give a ###### about games (which is probably a good thing), or you have always owned the latest and greatest machine available to the public, and don't actually know what 10 FPS or 400 ping feels like. Don't try and understand the rage, or put yourself in their shoes. Don't console the rager with "well right now I only have 40 FPS", as if deviation from your usual vsynced 60 is somehow an abomination. This is sure to only further enrage the individual. Just accept that there are some hardships in life that you, in your cushy environment, can never know.
2. Don't try to reason
As before, if you are still bewildered by this persons behaviour, you do not know the anger which severe performance issues can provoke. You don't understand the rage that boils up when walking along comfortably at 20 FPS, only to drop to single digits the second an enemy shows his face. And that's all it really is. Spur of the moment senselessness due to something that is out of the persons control and really goddamn annoying. They don't have a vendetta against anyone, and they don't want the 12 month development cycle of a computer game explained to them. They just want to be angry at the bull###### that has unfolded before them. Don't try and explain how its not really a problem and how they are actually in the minority and how its probably due to some aspect of their setup. Just don't.
3. Last and most important, agree with them
Nothing makes someone incensed with anger happier than to know he's right, even if he isn't. If someone curses the gods and blames his performance issues for every death he suffers, even at the hands of 10 Oni, simply say nothing, or even better, tell him he's right. If someone tells you you are nothing but FPS, and have no skill and couldn't even log into a command station if pointed in the right direction, tell him he's 100% right. You might just be the fabled master of all things requiring a mouse to perform, but he doesn't know that. All he saw was a single frame from the previous fight, you can't blame him if he doesn't have a single clue what the hell happened.
And under no circumstances, EVER try to defend yourself. When you are running a smooth 60 frames per second, and you come up against someone who can barely manage 6, don't say that it didn't make a difference. Worse than aggravating a rager, you are just plain lying to yourself.
