Everquest is a poison for anyone's life. It sucks your time and your money like a starving vampire thats been for 50 years. As far as other MMORPG's go, well it all depends on the mechanics. Ive liked DAOC a bit, played Anarchy online too which i thought was great. The fact is that in those 2 games you can, especially Anarchy online, just quit after 15 mins of playing, in EQ you cant, you have to stay at the very least 2 hours or so to accomplish any menial thing. Now some may say that its all part of making it a bit realist, look, i prefer living life, than playing it.

Ive been beta testing for Earth and beyond, which i thought was really refreshing, Asheron's call 2, which was good until some people ruined it with pking low level caracters, and im enlisted for Shining Lore.

Things i might try in the future include Star wars Galaxies and Shadowbane.
But still, its never the same when you can just "Save&Quit" and take a bit of fresh air with your friends.

Thats whats good about Everquest, 2hours of time not being bored, unless your crafting.
What i love about Everquest is the PVP System on tallon zek, as well as factions, and also Epic quests, jeeze you seen the size of the mage epic pet? or those 1337 1hs's warriors get.

I think they're ok when they're not pay-to-play, although they do get boring.

If you don't mind your graphics being text, try aardwolf.

Hate em. I know I would end up broke and with no social life if I started to play one, so I avoid them like the plague.

i dont really like EQ much (i played round SBVs) but i do like MMORPGs that are set in the future because you can have so much fun with hover cars and stuff like that and i am also starting to play ghost recon (dont know why) that is a pretty good game tho i have not got to play online yet

Hate them, they always end up to being the person/people who knows about the respawn tricks (see Dragon Camping in EQ). Eventually there turns to be no roleplay, just another first person hack n' slash.

I'm an ex-table top player myself so I really enjoy the roleplay aspect of what is supposed to be a roleplaying game, not walking around and having two people following me asking, "GIVE ITAM PLZ! ^^" just like Diablo 2 really. Blagh, no way for SW:G for me, I'm probably going to do Planetside, if I want carnage I'm not gonna bother leveling up in order to be able to do carnage. The skill tree system is admirable though, but I see no future in SW:G for me.

I used to play Asheron's Call, but I quit cold turkey about a year and a half ago.

See, I accidentally ran through an area populated by some very large, very out-of-my-league type monsters, and ended up getting killed very quickly. Unfortunately, I lost my best sword, shield, and helm with the corpse, so I had to find a way to get it all back.

I ended up running back to town and trying to beg a high level character to protect me. I found one, but he . . . . he . . . . um . . . . he . . . .

*deep sigh*

He only spoke in Old English.

And I . . . . I ended up speaking it back to him, in an effort to secure his aid.

A sample:

Him: "Where doth lie yon body?"

Me: "Uh . . . . . yonder. About a . . . uh . . . fortnight? . . . in that direction?"

Him: "'Tis a far journey!"

Me: "Yea-- Er . . . . . aye?"

I recovered my stuff, cancelled the account, and loathed myself for roughly two solid weeks.

LMAO monkey! Interesting folk on the net (aka nerds).

I was into Runescape for a while. Mainly because it was free. I'm easily amused by the simple leveling up procedures and so would put up with this ridiculously boring game for many, many hours. Anyway, the main thing that annoys me about it is the lack of maturity of the players. Because of this, the rules for the game are simply astounding. You can get banned from the game simply for calling someone a "n00b", thereby losing hundreds of hours of work (almost reminds me of these forums ) Its really entertaining to walk to the main town square where about 300 people are hanging out and say "New cheat found! press alt-f4 for 10,000,000 gold!! OMG!!111", and watch about 250 disappear. Hahahahahahahaha!!!

I tried Endless Ages. Its Uber cool but you are guaranteed a 2000+ ping

I hate all the new MMORPGS(all just level treadmills with a diff name, full of mouthy jerks). IMHO Ulitma Online was the best years ago. I had so much fun playing that game. Until they changed it.
My proffesion in ultima was prankster. Oh man i had the best screenshots of my evil pranks. I had GM alchemy so i could make deadly poison. If you havent played the game, Deadly poison would kill anyone in like 3-4 seconds if they dint get cured right away. So what i would do was poison food. I would then go to a "newbie zone". I would lay free food around on the ground and hide behind a tree. When my helpless newbie victim saw free food they would instantly gobble it up and then start to die. Thats when id emerge and use my "CURE POTION FOR SALE 10000 GOLD!!" They would usualy get a F** Y** out before dyeing.
It made for good screenshots. But alas, my prnkster ran into trouble one day whilst at the bank. For some reason that i cant remeber I had ALL my money and boat and everything on me. I was going to go buy a bunch of reagents to make more poison with or something. Well, as i was by the bank with about 100 people around me, someone died from my poisoned food(they must have been holding it for hours befire eating it) and i turned red.(which means youre open to attack becuase you have so many murder counts) Well, a guard killed me and my corpse was lootable. SO there i was a ghost , watching my corpse and ALL my stuff being looted. But, also in my bag was about 50pieces of poisoned fish! I sat there as a ghost and watched as i racked up about another 50 murder counts, everyone was eating the poisoned food! They were all dyeing so fast they couldnt all cure each other quick enough. It was so funny but in a way it sucked because i lost everything.
And that brought an end to my master prankster.

Yeah, I also played Runescape for a while. I played back when there were only a few hundred people who knew it existed. It was better back then--there weren't as many lamers, the economy wasn't as messed up, people weren't all really high level.... Ah, that was fun for a while. Last I checked there were thousands of people playing at any given time. Now it's just *click click click click* until your finger falls off.

I've never played any other MMORPG, since most of them require a credit card, and that's something that...well...is unfortunately unavailable to me.

heheha... that would make a really good comic

MMORPGs are the greatest idea known to man, but alot of them use the idea in crappy ways. I want to design a good MMORPG, with neat stuff

I always thought that a really, really cool thing to have in an MMORPG is the ability to build things, and change the world that way, and then destroy things that were built.

For instance:

Gather up some friends or people, discuss plans for building a new bunker. Use axes to chop down trees, which 'magically' turn into lumber. You can carry this lumber back to where you want to build it, and make a stockpile. Also, be able to use picks to gather stone. You can build select to build different parts, such as stone/wood wall, battlements, small doorway, gate, window, etc, and they automatically piece together. This gives the ability to create completely unique bunkers and fortresses, which can be used for offense or defense in battles against different factions.

That would be awesome, time to write more...

Okay, ON TOPIC here;

If you wanna buy a MMORPG, i myself would suggest the following ( none are released yet btw );

Word of Warcraft; www.worldofwarcraft.com www.blizzard.com

World of Warcraft is an online role-playing experience set in the award-winning Warcraft universe. Players assume the roles of Warcraft heroes as they explore, adventure, and quest across a vast world.

- WoW Screenshot -

City of Heroes; www.cityofheroes.com www.coh.com

City of Heroes is a super-powered hero based massively multiplayer online role-playing game. The game is set in Paragon City, a modern day metropolis full of super powered villains, alien invaders, and underground monsters. Players take on the roles of Paragon City's super-powered defenders. Create your own hero by choosing your statistics, skills, powers and designing your own costume. Must have for every Comicbook/Super Hero Fan!!.

Lineage 2; www.lineage2.com

No short version of the story/background of lineage2 is available i suggest that u just check the site itself, the amazing thing is that this MMORPG is being made on the the UT2003 Engine wich gives us great graphics, just look at the screenshots and it features a real day and night system + a real airflow system ( in other words your hair, grass on the ground and clothes are moved by the airflow ).

- LineAge2 Screenshot -

Offcourse there are more MMORPGs but these 3 are the ones that really caught my attention ( SW fans are gonna hate me for not mentioning SWG ;-) ), remember that you have to pay to play for MMORPGs and you will need a Credit Card to do so ( atleast at most MMORPG services ). Also there is a supposed MMORPG in making based on the Matrix Universe and also a Lord of the Rings ( Tolkien ) one. Well this is just me and my 2 cents, hope 2 have helped u out.
