Hey all,
First off I'm brand new to this game and don't know hell of allot about it.
I've yet to buy this game with just one reservation which I'm hoping could get sorted out here.
Are there any Australian servers for this game in it's current state?
I'd love to play this game it's just with the no refund policy, it's hard to make the decision.
Oh and just a side note.
What are the team sizes?
8v8 (guess) or....
Thanks for any help,
Moc

Edit: The game is awesome. Just do it, it is so worth it. If you haven't already watch some videos. http://www.ns2hd.com/

I'm a Totalbiscuit fan, and have watched all his video's on this game.
So thats why I'm here.
And thanks for the help I think next pay day I'll own a new game >:)
This is great to hear. I hope to get this game soon then,
See you guys in game :)
Or poorly...depending which of us you use as representative ;)
I also found that there are some Internode servers too.
I've had good experience with Internode. So I'll try to help out them and support better servers for NS2.
Glad to hear things are back to normal again! Just jumped on a server. Was empty but it ran well. Looking forward to prime-time tonight!
PS: Welcome to the madness, new guy! :D
Big thanks to Endar, Ishamael and Khyron for getting them back up they are great servers. They have a few ticks with players crashing from time to time. But I hear they are working on it.
Also Welcome Moc.

I just want this game so badly. I think I may just buy it now.
Any one hear use a dedicated voip programs.
Would love to play some games with people who can teach what the hell I should be doing.
Just be aware there is some issue atm where they crash the game client on a regular basis :/ I have NFI why, only experience it on them, no issues other then lag on US servers.
The network link is failing somewhere, and it will cause some people to timeout, and the remainders to crash because of the lack of communication.I guess the code isn't extremely robust in handling server timeouts, not that its a big issue.
But yea, any crashing is often caused by networking issues, especially when you find out the whole team/server has crashed.

Don't forget Ishamael! Without him Monash would not exist! (except as an exceptional Melbourne university.)
Thought I would post up letting you all know that all 3 Games.On.Net servers are back up and operational.
I have yet to play a game on them though, I hope to soon.
Side Note: They are only 12 slot servers :(
They can't just use "some server". That's the entire issue with NS2. You cannot use standard issue hardware. They would have to buy and maintain a very specific piece of hardware to run NS2 (i.e. a 4.4GHz+ i5/i7).

That is really odd. I get frequent crashes on Monash, but always instantaneous - usually some game event happens - I die, someone else dies, whatever - then the NS2 bug report box pops up instantly.
Some kind of deadly malformed packet?
Having a lot of things 'load' is a very common event prior to a crash. This includes things like phasegating, opening buy menus, moving commander view via minimap, mass moving of players onto teams, resetting rounds etc.
Choke, periods of high actions/network traffic is a good indicator of your current risk of crashing in my experience.
Yeah that sucks. I saw you sitting there with 999 ping for a while.
I'm lucky and have only crashed once.
You might be able to get away with a dedicated high powered Xeon (like a E3-1270/E5-1620 or higher) for just 12 players. Those turbo in the high 3Ghz range, such that it should be able to handle lower playercount NS2 servers.
Sounds like an issue with your router "choking" from too many packets. See this thread for more information.
