Frontiersman armor and color customization?

It would be interesting to have different varieties of Armor models (ie. different helmets, armors, kneepads, shoulder pads, visor etc etc) and be able to customize the color of your armor as well.

These features would obviously unlock as you "rank up" in the game by playing or getting achievements after doing some set of challenges or so. This feature would some what add more reason to play the game as players try to rank up to get some customization. This is just an opinion though so don't take it so seriously

I don't really care about hats, more about armor customization and color changes

The Devs have said that they will continue supporting NS2 with free content and patches post-release, so I wouldn't put it past them to include this kind of thing.

I support it. Although color customization should limited to small bands or stripes at most, and skin color.

There is no reason to ruin a perfectly good game with a ranking/unlock system.

I think it could work, but only if the unlockables were entirely cosmetic. Yet at the same time I don't think it has a place in a game like this.

Also, this fence is hurting my bum.

We do want to have some sort of customization feature post 1.0, to allow you to choose between different armor versions, different genders, different faces, and some different decals, insignias and other customizations on the marine side. Hopefully some bit of customization on the alien side, as well. We would want to keep it fairly constrained though, to fit within the existing look of the game.

I am glad I am not alone in thinking that....

On having different colors, having a bright orange and pink marine would be easily seen by every marine. I would keep the default colors personally, and would gladdly let my enemies be more visible.

i hope they will still consider other silly looking modifications (hats or whatever) if they make them readyroom only. what better way to celebrate an alien win with your gorge wearing a top-hat and monocle!

or even better.....THE BABBLER KING CROWN!

Yeah I think that ready-room-only items would be fun and still not break the game as the ready room is always seen as a sort of party.

If they kept atmosphere breaking modifications to the ready room only I would be okay with that but I would be irritated to see blue armored marines in the game.

None of the ideas floated for customisation involve anything that would break atmosphere.

As seen in the thread title "color customization" unless he was talking about slighting different shades of green then I think changing the armor color would likely break the atmosphere.

Yeah but there's no booze :( What kinda party is that? I propose a useable keg where RR players can get virtual-drunk!

I dont mind feature to customize your marine/alien but only slighly and without any unlock system. It<,s already hard to have a nice pub game evently balanced that if we go for for a unlock system a lot of players will play solo only to unlock those. Unless it require a full team effort against the other team but i hardly see how it would happen

People who bought the Special Edition were given black armour as a "thank you", and this was supposed to be about the only "buff" to differentiate early buyers from people jumping on the bandwagon later - if players are allowed to customise the colour of armour, it would negate this.

It's not that big an issue to me, but I do like having the black armour, it's just nice to be able to recognise early adopters so you can give them some "virtual respect" in-game :-)

I dont really see them doing this. I like the idea though but only custem to a certian extent. It would be anoyying to see people running about in BRIGHT yellow and light blue armous. It just wouldnt fit in.

I support adding gender and faces at the very least. While bright colors don't fit, having the same clone male space marine does not either. Wouldn't be opposed to different armor models and perhaps decals/insignia's either. Hard to say what to do for aliens, but I doubt it would be hard to come up with. Apply the same concept, with an alien twist. Customization alone would boost sales. Lots of people appreciate it.

I'm not for or against an unlock system, as long as it stays purely aesthetic. You could have one for appearances, and unlock tiers. For example, the first tier allows you to pick faces(gender picking is done from the start), the second allows you to pick decals/insignia's...third is armor models and so forth. Make it so you have a limited number of points or point you gain each level, and can spend it on any unlocks you want within your achieved tiers(so 1 point allows you to pick ONE face once you've unlocked that tier, and another point allows you to pick one piece of armor once that's achieved). Don't make it a straight pre-determined progression system...give players choice. Maybe even scrap the tier system all together and simply give players points to spend every level, on something of their choosing, anything.

    My two cents.

Why must their be levels and things to unlock? I just can not understand why anyone would want that in any game. Do you guys just feel that the game itself is not enough? That it isn't enough to try to get better but that you must also try to get these silly unlockable items? Sorry to be so harsh but I really do not get it.
