Game freezes on loading and takes extreamly long to do so

Pre-perchased today and on connecting to a server at the point were (I assume) the map begins to load the game freezes up and crashes, along with this the loading takes an extremely long time.
Ive reinstalled windows (for other reasons) but the problem still persists either way.
