I tried what the sticky said but still, im getting horrible performance in game... i got 30+ fps beginning of a game, but once i get in a congested area my frames drop below hell.... is there ANYTHING else i can do? and what are the system requirements for this game? im already running the thing on awful settings...

My pc:

CPU: Core i7 860 Quad core with HT 2.80 GHZ

Ram: 6gb

GPU: Nvidia 285gtx OC

There are three things you can do
    1) Make sure you are playing on servers with stable 30 tickrates. You can type net_stats in console to see this under server tickrate.
    2) Wait for performance increases and further optimizations to the game
    3) Overclock your cpu. This option i do not recommend unless you know what you're doing and do it at your own liability!

I do recommend you use net_stats to diagnose why you are getting very low fps in congested areas. Keep an eye on choke and predicted frames. If your lag is the result of high choke spikes, the cause is going to be network based or some such and there's nothing you can really tweak to solve that except for step 2).

    thanks, ill try that.

Your CPU isn't fast enough for the game in it's current state. You're going to need over 4GHz to play it comfortably until they optimize it some more.

He does not need 4GHz to play. His cpu is fine. If you are in the US play on one of the ALL-IN servers.

    Clock speed isnt everything.

Otherwise old Pentium 4 would be more powerful than todays i5.

    Oh really?

So I'm just making up the fact that my wife's 1090T @ 3.9GHz gets 20-25FPS less than my i5-2500k @ 4.5GHz? Feel free to lie to yourselves but please don't lie to people asking a legit question. I don't consider 30FPS to be playable.

The reason your wife's 1090T gets worse performance isn't just because it has a lower clock speed, it's because it has an entirely different architecture which performns worse than the it-2500k's architecture. My i3 is clocked at 3.3 GHz and I get great FPS. Clock speed isn't everything.

The clock speed is more of a rule-of-thumb, where, all else being equal, most systems are being bottlenecked by their CPU and increasing their clock speed (by OCing) will improve performance. However, its entirely possible to get better performance by switching to a newer architecture with a lower clock speed (or vice versa). For example, if you went from an Intel i7 970 to an AMD FX 8120, you would probably see lower performance even though the FX 8120 has a higher clock speed.

In practice, most people are updating to newer architecture with higher clock speeds (i.e. Nehalem to Sandy/Ivy Bridge or K10 to Bulldozer/Piledriver), hence why the rule-of-thumb mostly works.
