Chaos

The Natural Selection board has turned into utter chaos. Everybody posts the same thing repeatedly, flames each other, doesn't proofread their posts, etc... I remember before NS was out and just after it did come out. The NS board was a respectable one with nice posters. I really enjoyed it. Now I come here and scowl at half of the post, snorting in disgust. I'd, personally, like to see a few new moderators to help. There just aren't enough moderators to keep the board clean and running smooth. These moderators could be chosen by existing moderators approving of the posts they make and putting it to a vote. If 90% of the current moderators vote yes, then that person is sent a PM that asks if they're interested in moderating the forum. This is just a suggestion, though. If this massive war keeps up, however, I'll be forced to leave ths NS boards. I'm sorry if this annoys anyone.

Finally, these boards have become what all message boards are ment to be.

I don't think more moderators is gonna solve anything. They've all ready increased the number to cope with the 'workload' after release.

The only thing that might work is if they become more heavy handed, but they get enough complaints about that as it is.

I'd prefer heavy-handed mods and a better board, as opposed to utter, flame-and-lame-filled insanity. If the mods were willing to take it upon themselves, I'd prefer fully-moderated forums for the most part.

I agree with Timmy, i'd love it if the mods came in hard and whipped everyone into shape.

the ultimate would be each thread would need to be approved before appearing on the boards, and bad threads were deleted instead of locked.

But remember, the mods have lives too and cant just sit around all day surfin the forums.

OMGOMG! MODS WITH LIVES! MY WORLD HAS SHATTERED! I always thought they sat staring at their monitors waiting for flames <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

The NS forums seem pretty well managed to me... they're a bit more "lenient" (i.e., friendler) when it comes to spam compared to some forums, but its not excactly the apocalypse- seems enough mod's about to me. Could be worse, they could ban bumping and similar like Sven Co-op did following their mid-release...

Same posts, flames, no proofreading = popular msg board and successful game.

Seriously, it just means that there are more people coming to the boards. Mods are doing a great job as it is. Don't take to heart some of the flames you get. Don't worry about it at all. You don't know those people, and they're probably just doing it to test your reaction. Ignore them. They have no impact on your life whatsoever. I'm also pretty sure everybody can understand a post, even if it's a little hard to read with spelling errors and grammar mistakes. It's not a big deal, just takes a little work to read. People posting the same posts probably means they're new here and are just too lazy to check on other threads. It also means many more new players are playing the game. So it's all good.

Complete agreement MeOnCrack. Forums with mod approval for messages ALWAYS fail. It just doesn't lead to a very user-friendly environment, especially as some of the threads have their reply time measured in minutes, not days.

Remember, every single post comes with a free "report to moderator" button. (: If you see a post that you think really ought to be "improved" (read: nuked back to the Pre-Cambrian) by a moderator, hit the button.

Mods won't help that much, make a clear rules thingy somewhere, like a huge 600x50 button =]

Moderators do read everything they can. I know because I have had private "relations", I mean messages with one of them...

    Eeeeeeewwwwwww!

Uh anyway, they're here. Yeah and if you see someone flaming others or stuff like that then use the report post button.

Isn't that button just for highly offensive posts?

Between the rediculous "poopy-mouth filter" and the fact that threads get locked for reasons from "He's a racist" to "I don't agree and my opinon matters more then YOURS", you want more abus- er.. heavy handed moderators?

The "poopy-mouth filter" is there for the people who don't enjoy seeing dozens of swear words on their screen, and I've never once seen a mod lock a topic for an unfair reason.

It helps as long as the mods are experienced enough heh

Swear filters are staying. I promise you there's never a time when an obscenity is a better choice of words than a well-thought out post. Intelligence goes a long way.

I think the mods are doing a dynamite job! They may be overworked, so that might be a reason to get a few more, but I think overall things are running quite smoothly.
