Big fan of NS1 here and I'm looking for some help on getting NS2 to fire up on my computer. Whenever I click 'play game' on steam the loading windows appears for about 5 seconds and then disappears. Even if I wait 10 minutes nothing happens no error message. I click 'play game' again and the same routine happens. I have been playing counter strike source regularly on this machine.
Here's my computer specs:
OS: Windows XP pro 32bit
CPU: DualCore Intel Core 2 Duo E6850, 3000 MHz (9x 333)
Graphics: nVIDIA GeForce 9400 GT
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-X38-DQ6
Chipset: Intel Beachwood x38
1 GB RAM (I know the RAM is a little low but that shouldn't stop the game from at least loading to the menu?)
Fixes:
Ran Dxsetup.exe and installed it
Installed PhysX
Steam check integrity
Complete reinstall (deleted the game from steam & delete left over files then redownloaded)
set physx configuration menu to CPU as processor
I'm really excited to try NS2, can't wait to get this problem resolved.

Took me a few hours of searching to find the right solution on the forums... wouldn't be a bad idea to attach this solution to some of the webbed troubleshooting threads.
