Alien v Alien would be alot better. Although u would have to have a new hive location and u just fight over the hive locations. First 2 claim 3 will be most powerful of course, although Onos wouldnt be able to attack high hives <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

That's the idea, teach marines to use more tactical thought. The FF issue would be problematic, and I'd worry that it would actually encourage more 'rambo' tactics, but in the long run, as marines became more confident, it would start to encourage sensible precautions.
And yes, it would encourage Fades to be the one man death machines they are meant to be, not a pack hunter...
"Whoops, did I acid you? Oh, has that COMPLETELY messed you up? Errr, sorry!??!"
The aliens would have to use their brains in this situation, but I suppose it is generally correct, it'd cause more issues for dumbarse marines than aliens.
About the acid rocket causing damage to friendlies... Why should it? The mod creators have said that the Alien movies were an inspiration to the game, those aliens have acid for blood, I seriously doubt they would be consumed by it should they get a papercut. Also, if a Fade can produce acid rockets, it would be logical if they were not harmed by it. Same logic applies to other castes of aliens, why evolve into something that can cause your community extreme harm. That's more of a human trait. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
Also I would like to say that I'm completely content with the game as is. Marines vs. Marines, that's been done before (the Quake-series and mods for it, Half-Life and CS etc.). The only innovation NS would bring to that scene is the RTS-concept, which is a very good idea, but not in that sense. The game should be Marines vs. Aliens, although I fully respect the people who want something more along the line of every single FPS out there.
Actually FF was meant to be part of NS "I think" The few servers that ran it early on had so much marine killing marines and killing their own structures that on Public servers you cant have it on <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

And maybee early on the skulk vs marine causes more marine casualities, but fade bile and acid rockets, spores, and onos trample later on would effect aliens.
And do the clans use it for Tourny mode? Thought it was on for that.

<b><i><u>OMG!!! FOR THE LAST TIME NO MIRRORED MAPS!</b></i></u>
If you want mirrored maps go play TFC or some vanilla CTF. One of the best things about NS is the map design. To play NS on flipped/mirrored maps would be like going out to an expensive restaurant and slopping ketchup all over everything.
Im surprised noone has brought of tfc style 3 or 4 way matches.
imagine trying to fend off two cooperating alien teams, being beaten back to your cc and spawns, and having 7 heavies outflank the fades with gls and hmgs... WoWoWoW

Because I'm on an unfamiliar laptop and browsing is slow as hell, I only read the first page, so excuse me if I'm repeating.
1) NS is planned to support MvM and AvA scenarios, probably in version 2.0.
2) These scenarios require:<ul> <li>at least reskins, likely new models for both aliens and marines <li>New maps. Marine maps will likely have 2 start areas and 2+ "expansion" areas. They may or may not be symmetrical; I hope they aren't. The current playtester thinking is that alien maps will have 5 hives, possibly only 4. And remember, there's no level-over-level restriction for AvA maps, because there's no commander! <li>balance adjustments! It's not even just because both sides have the same weaponry. You also have to look at the defensive and offensive capabilities of each team. Marines are currently tailored to fight aliens, not other marines. </ul> 3) Rest assured, it will be done. And I hope 1.0 and its patches are evidence that it won't just be done; it'll be done RIGHT. (:
i think marines vs marines should be something like: TSA vs Space Pirates, the models would be totaly different and so would the structure models, like space pirate's comm chair is all rusty and old looking and stuff. offcourse sieges would have to be removed... also a cool scenario would be for TSA to start in a space ship and the pirate marines in like an other space ship so the only way to get from place to place would have to be via jetpack, get one jetpacker there to build a comm chair, spawn portals and phase gate and you got one ship raided. Also blood would really work since shooting should produce blood not sparks.
Aliens vs aliens could be aliens from NS vs aliens from Alien and maps wouldnt have to be in TSA buildings they would be cooler in alien planets. in OUTDOOR areas. with rain and such.
sorry for spelling but when i get a over rush of ideas i dont care for punctuation etc
Personally I think that's a good decision on his part, though I'm sure that opinion is in the minority.
I think Marine vs Marine will feel quite odd, but I'm willing to give it a shot.
What about Alien vs Alien, though? Someone mentioned entirely new models, are there any new designs in the works? Will it require a new hive model as well?
ShockehIf a packet drops on the web and nobody's near to see it...Join Date: 2002-11-19Member: 9336NS1 Playtester, Forum Moderators, Constellation
Actually, most venomous or dangerous creatures AREN'T immune to their own weaponry.
Snakes / Scorpions / Spiders are mostly potential victims to their own venom, Electric eels CAN be electrocuted (They just have a higher threshold)
So, Fades would probably NOT be immune to acid. And hey, it'd make for some cool moments <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo--> Maybe marines could be justified then in having more damage weaponry? If FF did effect them, they'd have to think a bit more. ESPECIALLY if FF affected marine structures.
You have had a couple days rest after recovering, and you and some fellow Marines found a way to use the old hives to brew some killer out of this world alchohol. Soon afterwards after a few Marine vs Marine brawls Major Pecker has decided to destroy those brew hives and incited a new prohibition rule. "Drink and die" Meaning Marines will be shot by firing squad if caught imbibing.
You Lt Assmunch and some other Marines have decided to rebel. I mean come on a bunch of Marines in space with no chicks, (lets not get into the marine alien love incident) and now no alchohol, with no sign of pick up for 6 months. You watse communications and start another base in one of the hives, and brew your alchohol. Now its time to waste Major Pecker and his gang before the ship comes for pickup, you can write it off as Alien casualities, and have some fun for 6 months.
Rebel Marines gain upgrades such as,
Can take more damage and be walking ded but not realize it, (carapace) "You missed me hehe, oww"
Black outs, (similar to blink) "Jeeze I swear I was at the othere end of this hall?"
Intoxicated Crazed Battle Scream, "causes paralyzation like ono"
Gas "spores" hehe from beer of course
Bad Breath "healing spray damage"
And Im done would go on but as I read this I suddenly have to go to store to buy something I wasnt going too. "Beer"
They need to resolve player model differences (esp. whether or not something is your own resource node's, or the enemy's just by a mere glance).
Seige gun priority targetting (If 5 guns aim at a spare cc, and the enemy gun aims at the tf....)
Changing the readyrooms on maps to support such a gametype
If there was a specific marine v. marine map, I'd probably have a lot less vents than most maps have, somewhat symmetrical to allow for a fair fight (or, alternatively, different, but with similar geometry), and more nodes (as probably most fights would be over nodes, and not hives).

Yay. A possibilty of multi-floored NS maps. Alternatively we could all moan and whine at Flayra to code in a more advanced commander camera. I mean, it would only take a few months... <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
Call me a moron if you will, but is <i>everyone</i> on about normal marine vs normal marine? I was under the impression that the team were eventually going to code in what would practically be a third team. That is, differences a little more substantial than new models and/or skins. New tech tree and structures. Based off the existing marine side of course, so it wouldn't be so difficult to code as the marine/alien differences were, but it would still require a year of constant work. Patience is a virtue! So I wish I had some...

A third race is an eventual possibility, but I think an unlikely one. Think of this as Starcraft with 2 races; even if you only had Marines and Zerg, you can still play MvM and ZvZ. The chances of seeing 1v1v1 games in NS are small, mostly because of the MP player limit, and because of hardcoding mapping limitations (not to mention trying to balance THREE teams as functionally different as the marines and kharaa already are!).
