No Pokket has been around a while... it's just how she does things. I am not a fan and I couldn't make it through that interview and had to close it.
I prefered the FPS Guru interview over the other one. Lots of publicity. I hope you devs gets it balanced and optimized in time... It must be quite stressful to have a date looming over your heads?

Heh... so that girl, Pokket, has a big following on TwitchTV. The reason I know is that she played on my server during my very brief stint in SWTOR. She had a horde of followers (males) join our server just to play with her or kill her. I meet guys on our server who talked about her all the time, and probably would have given their left nut to talk to her like Hugh did. Its all kinda pathetic and sad. But I see the same type of obsession over her in this thread....:P

lol i wouldn't be surprised. she can put on the nice and sweet act on camera but in game it's quite the opposite.
Great job Hugh, you absolutely nailed every single answer in the Machinima interview. The FPSGuru interview was not quite as spot on, but that was not your fault ;) Let's hope this coverage will bring in a lot of new people.
From the <a href="http://kotaku.com/5916879/natural-selection-2-is-a-genius-mash-of-counter-strike-and-starcraft" target="_blank">Kotaku article</a>: "Unknown Worlds in turn encourages this interaction by providing the game's entire source code."
What's that supposed to mean? That the game is open-source, or that it's not a mod like NS1?

It means they wrote their own engine (spark) and made their own programming and mapping tools, and that the game includes all of that for free (plus all the LUA coding for the game) ... so people are encouraged to interact with the game and create mods and maps and whatnot (and no, NS2 is not a mod). Hence their coined "most moddable game EVER" tagline =P
<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->Maybe the best testament to how exciting Natural Selection 2 is can be seen in the community's fervent involvement with the game. Unknown Worlds tells me that the <u>community actively sends them code to embed new features</u>, like a spectator mode or bots to fill in for players. Community members are so active that some of them even get hired on to the development team, like Hugh Jeremy who helped me through most of the gameplay demonstration.

All of the game logic is done in lua, which is visible and modifiable if you bought the game(its as easy as opening notepad), you also get access to a lot of tools, like the map editor, cinematic editor, a lua debugger and IDE etc.
The game is not open source nor is it a mod - its their own engine, also it doesnt mean that you can just join a ns2 server with whatever modifications you want. (while currently you can do a few things) this will get changed before release - so there will be some kind of hash checking, maybe some kind of black and whitelists (so some servers might allow you to change some specific models/skins, some might not etc...) depending on server - so ppl cant just join a random server with easy hacks - making models glowing pink, making maps super bright or whatever... also they will use VAC afaik)

This latest round of press and writeups sound truer to what I have been playing than in the past.
Keep pimpin it guys :-)
