The dynamic colour correction stuff sounds really cool. You could do things like "massively oversaturating colour" as an alien disruption ability - it doesn't remove player control but it certainly makes things tense! Like drifter flares but more visually interesting.

Ooooo I like this. I kinda wish hallucination worked this way along with some tweaks to what we have currently. The alien comm could spritz some marines with this spray causing their visors to get all funky and a few fake life forms would randomly appear around them in the duration. Instead of directly using the fake lifeforms. Marines not affected would watch their buddies freak out and attack a wall.

But yeah, super excited to see how the dynamic coloring will look! The ideas in my head of how this could bring even more immersion and awesomeness to the game are spilling out of my brain and piling up on the floor.

I love those sessions and I'm glad my question got answered.

Even though I'm a big Scifi fan I think asymmetric Gameplay and Multiplayer are the most important cornerstones UWE should stay true to.

    I love these Q & A sessions.

Can these sessions please be compiled into a text format? I don't have the bandwidth or time to download and watch 30 minutes of vidya :(

Nice video again. You guys are sending out positive vibes ;)

I was thinking of asking for transcripts too, but only if the team doesn't have more important things to do.

It looks like on the homepage, the NS2 Build 208 post has an incorrect link to this thread.

Wouldn't it easier to simply upload the sound of the video separately? It's small and doesn't take nearly as much work as making a full transcript.

    Wow!

As someone who has played ns for about 8 years and arma for 10 years I never though I would see either developer mentioning the other given that they are miles apart.

Suffice to say I was very suprised when you guys mentioned dayz....

Obscuring vision isn't much different from removing player control. Such disruption abilities will either be pointless (who's going to spend time/effort on inflicting cosmetic changes to the enemy's vision?) or detrimental to gameplay, depending on how severly they affect marine vision.

I often have a hard time understanding Charlie. You might be able to do a little sound engineering there, but it would be much easier if he just spoke up a little bit.

Enjoyed this Q&A, interesting points for sure, also hoping to see a gorge plushie or equivalent NS2 mascot somewhere in the background next time! ;D

The only issue I have with these Q&A videos is the occasional simultaneous speaking.

I love stuff like this in multiplayer games. If anyone on the team or on the forums has played the Half-Life 2 mod Dystopia, it had some of this cool stuff going on.

When journalists log thirty minute interviews between themselves and a single interviewee it can take hours of painstaking work. Unless UWE has an intern with a free five hours every week, I'm not sure transcripts are the most feasible option.

Ahh Dystopia, that was a pretty good mod at it's peak :)

When you see mods like that with so much potential fall to the wayside, it's reassuring to know that something like Natural Selection will be released again in a new iteration as a full product.

I'd say its the other way around...with NS2 releasing, I feel alot better about those mods I *knew* would one day make it big, even if not in its original form or even iteration.

My question: No twitter update on the main page for 2 days? I'm guessing no meteorites have hit?
  • RockyMarcRockyMarc Join Date: 2009-11-24 Member: 69519Members, Reinforced - Shadow
Ahhh UW have spoilt us rotten :)
2 days, no tweets.. The heck man! :P The old UW would have squashed at least a patch in and a few tweets in by then :D Nah keep up the good work guys, loving NS2.

Ditch the fancy mic that fails and use headset mics.
