Steam on Linux and NS2 on Linux

As was very recently said Steam client will be available on Linux (Valve had one some time ago for testing of OSX client codebase). How long would it take to get NS2 to run on Linux? There's obvious problem of rewriting renderer to use OGL, recompiling whole thing and testing.

It'd be a really nice thing to have because some people might be getting rid of all Windows crap once Steam gets to Linux (and use Wine for things not ported yet).

Source of the steam client being on Linux news?

Edit: Think I found it. It loads slow though.

Well the devs said that switching the renderer would be an 'easy' change for the mac release. So if steam ever does support linux it might not be too far off from the mac version. Would be a good venture for the growing linux market.

+1 for this. With steam support on Linux the game will be easier to distribute :)

If I had ns2 on linux, then I would no longer have a relevant reason to remain on windows.

    +1 !

Well, there isn't even a linux server build yet. :/
