There already was an AusNS2.com launched a few years ago as the successor of AusNS.com. However because NS2 didnt update for ages the site just kind of died.
ausns2.com.au/.net/.xxx whatever is simple and will be known by all the old ns1 players yet to come back. I can only assume the other guys disbanded or something seeing as the original site has been dead for some time now... I was thinking about putting up one myself but was hesitant to just steal the name lol.
I still don't mind AusPure or even just TheReadyRoom. But it would be great to find out who owns AusNS2 and see if they are willing to be apart of all this. It is just the first logical name for an Australian NS2 community. AusPureNs2.com would be alright, like someone else said would be a tribute to endars <strike>standing</strike> effort.
Ok, so the way I see it we have the following options:
naturalselection2.com.au - owned and ready but some feel its a little long and too much like the original domain thereadyroom.com.au (or .net.au, .com was taken) auspure.net.au (or .net, others taken) ausns2.com.au (or .net.au or .net, .com was taken)
any other gems im missing, what are the votes for these?
I like thereadyroom but as .com is taken I don't know if you should use it, people might go to the wrong one.
AusPure is gone :( eventually new community members will not understand the significance. I think just let it be a fond memory and move on.
You could play on AU like OZNS2.com.au
Put it at the end. NS2AU.com.au Funny I punched that one in and found this <a href="http://sites.google.com/site/ns2auserverproject/" target="_blank">http://sites.google.com/site/ns2auserverproject/</a>
or play on the classic good game. NS2GG.com.au GGNS2.com.au

Me gusta.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Yup, this means we went for ns2au.com, also picked up ns2au.net for good measure.
Irons Soul has given me access to an already pretty well populated steam group called <a href="http://steamcommunity.com/groups/ns2au" target="_blank">'Natural Selection 2 Australia Community (NS2AU)'</a> .We may be using that bad boy for the website so join up if your not already a member. I know there is another steam group also for the aussie community.
We all had a little spreadsheet online thingy pledging money, what happened to actually getting a server up and running? Waiting 4 months for 'optimizations' is the option we have chosen?
We *used* to have servers that ran the game fine, and we have poeple willing to put in money. Sure this does compute?
It's not as easy as just plonk server up and running. When I had the Western Australia, Perth NS2 server up and running, it took ages to just find a damn place willing to host, of course didn't help that it was located in WA where server hosting is like trying to find a pot of gold.

I doubt you bothered to read this thread before commenting sir Factory as this has nothing to do with the server situation at present. In setting up a community website I feel its important that community has involvement right from the beginning, choosing a name may seem trivial but I want people to feel connected.
With regards to the server situation I know personally there are a few TOGers working behind the scenes on finding a solution, RockyMarc is very right when he says its not a simple task. You cant just throw money at it and hope for the best.
_Raven_11: Hey Mrc, are you and the crew going to revive AusNS2? MrC: No _Raven_11: so you're done then? MrC: Yes.
For those who do not understand what this means, basicly the group behind the great AusNS community website all those years ago does not seem to be planning a return. This in fact means a new community with new leaders is ripe for the picking.
www.Ausns2.com is dead...... long live www.Ns2Au.com!!!

Looking for people to help me admin it, happy to gift this server as the new server for the community site if you wanted.
Let me know if anyone wants custom maps, or to use it for organised games, etc
