Our Hive Was Destroyed And We Won!

stick it out 'till the end
We were playing a game of tanith with about 8 people and I was on the aliens team. our first hive was in the waste handling area. We attack the base as usual and as the game progresses, we try to keep various hive locations free.

The marines managed to get the Satellite Communications hive and then from there they go after waste handling. It gets overrun and before we can stop them, it is destroyed. The only one left is our gorge who is sitting near the fusion reactor. His health is running low and in a couple of minutes he sets the hive up. We wait and the hive gets built and finally we spawn back in.

I go and check-out the satellite comm room and after a few attempts, manage to take down their turret factory (god bless ignorant commanders) and then the room is ours. We go after waste and get a few dents but not much. Then we go for their base and take out almost all of their infantry portals. We turn into fades and then take them all out and everyone but the commander, but he runs out and jumps through his portal to waste into another CC and then somehow manages to get his base back up and some heavy armor guys. We obliterate the waste handling area and turn our attention to the main base. They send guys out and we clobber them with our claws. Their heavy armor guys get beaten down by the speedy fades and we dominate their base and finally kill the commander.

It was a great game and really shows how close a game can get before turning a 180 around. If it wasn't for that one gorge, we'd be done for right there when the hive went down. If he was wounded as well we would have had a game over. It's quite a great feeling to see the game turn around like that.

I just wanted to share this with you all as it was a great gaming moment for me.

    This happened to me once.

My team was fighting hard, but slowly being pushed back... we were down to one hive, after holding 3 at one point, and it was under attack... HAs were rushing in and we could build no def chambers (the def hive was distroyed.)

All seemed hopeless.... we all banded together and took out the marines that were incomming, damaging the marine economy... then a breakthrough.

    The marine base was defenceless.

We distracted them while others rushed it and took out the CC and then slowly got the last HA marines that were running around.

We were in deaths grip and escaped, w00t!

I had a great game yesterday evening. Action packed. No time to rest. Intense.

One of those games where the marines kept knocking out our hives almost as soon as we could get 'em up and we kept clearing the hive locations as soon as the marines could occupy them.

I kept thinking "we are going to lose this one. My people can't keep their morale up". I was frustrated myself. You think "now we got 'em!" just to have them kill your hives.

At one point the marines had three sieges attacking our last hive guarded by a HMG/HA (not sure if all the sieges were completely build. Didn't have time to check ). I was the only one who had time to evolve to fade before they had knocked out our second hive. Fortunately the aliens arrived at the location almost at the same time so we took out the marine and frantically destroyed the TF. Luckily we made it just in time, saving out last hive.

The game went back and forth for some time, everybody fighting hard, but in the end we managed to get the hives up and win the game.

These are the games that are so sweet to win and so depressing to lose (even though it's comforting to know you did a good job). The only bad thing about those great games is that they are so rare

    Yes indeeed.

I played one such games yesterday.

The sulks acutually worked togther in one massive attack unit that took out the entire marine squat of 5 without taking any loses.

they had so many defence and offense turrets guarding the last hive and fades too.

We mamange to take that out after all the entire unit charged in .

    We won ...........

was playing on nothing last night, about a 10v10 or 11v11. Random kept making me alien so I had grown a "soft spot" for my alien commrades. We had lost about 4 games in a row in 15 minutes because the marines kept rushing our first hive over and over again. Our hive is in viaduct this time around. I get a guy to come with me: "Wait until their rush leaves then eat their base" We wait outside, and a minute later the 4 tagged marines make their way to viaduct. Sprining into action their observatory is gone to keep the rush party from building a phase back, then one ip, then the other, and finally the commander steps out and he's gone, alone with the cc. There are still enough of the rush alive to be dangerious; all we have to do now is survive it. We rush back down to viaduct, eat a couple guys but we're too late they get the hive and the timer starts. 2 marines left. One is eaten. ahhh 30 health... 25 health... the last marine gets eaten and we win. In the readyroom everyone was either asking "who won?" or "how the hell did that happen?!" very fun game

I was playing a 10v10 game on I belive ns_nothing. We managed to get two hives up, then we lost 1, luckily, me and one other guy managed to turn fade. They were sieging out last hive, but me and the other fade took them out, and there marines, and there phase, with the help of a Gorge healing us constantly. We were so close to defeat and ended up winning, a very long, very fun game.
