The marine weapon selection icons at the bottom of the screen are great, but perhaps they should only appear and fade out when switching weapons. And appear and fade when buying weapons. To keep to minimalism, as we generally don't need to have them displayed all the time.

Maybe even look like a scroll wheel.

Yes, that is what they are supposed to do, and will do. Guys, you're commenting on an unreleased version of the HUD that is in the middle of being worked on :)

New Marine UI looks awesome and Cory addressed everything I was thinking about it.

I'd love to see the curved effect, but yeah, I can understand how that's not a priority for launch.

Can't wait to get my hands on it.

I can embrace the idea of having a visor that is connected WiFi to Command Center able to have information that is available on the commanders display. It just makes sense and probably already exists.

Just let me turn it off with a key, like I'm flipping it up or switching it off. Even remove health/ammo info too with this mode. Or how about two modes min/max that could be toggled? With min only showing limited info.

Common I want to trust my force / spidy senses! A new hope wouldn't have gone so well if he couldn't turn off his targeting hud, just saying.

Commander squad management would be absolutely amazing. Having a squad list to direct marines or skulks would make commanding much more tactical, great idea keep em coming.

Kind of like alien vision. You leave it off to locate friendlies who are under attack or find enemies who are parasited, then turn it on when you engage in combat. At the moment though, that is the flashlight, and I fear adding another key for another interface based ability is a bit overcrowded.

Good to hear, sorry about stating the obvious. The thread is about commenting on a wip hud so I commented.

Looking forward to trying it out on build 201.

Surprised no one took pictures of today's HUD. Lots of changes already.

Got rid of "You are dead" screen and made many other adjustments.

The Alien health bar needs to be much bigger.

And I don't like the 'Build 201 Internal Playtest' message to be there all the time.

    EDIT: Rest looks great!

I've notice that charles, and i really like the progress. Keep up the good work.

One thing I'm unsurtent of, having players names always displays can be very disadvanced when having alots of friendly players in the same room because the text will block your view. I remember how counter strike did or other valve game, only when aiming on a player, you'll see the player name. Having that will solve that issue of having dussin of names blobbing your screen.

well thats because, currently, you can do both. you can see their name if they are nearby (very useful for plenty of occasions and fast situations. plz dont remove) and you can see their name if you focus your crosshair on them directly. thats part of the problem: both of them show up at the same time on the screen.

beyond that everything is looking great. (didnt get to see if the weld text got reduced or not tho? off i go..)

I really love the design, aspecially the edges with the nice blue line. Looks absolutely perfect in my opinion. 99 % perfection. Although the resources note under the minimap is taking to much space in left side of hub, also that small line doesnt seem to fit. Why not having the team resources at top of the hub, center placed? How about removing the minimap and only rely the big map "pressing c" instead? . Would clear up the hub and make it more pure and more fantastic as it is.

Just cerious, somebody really using the mini map on the hub, to left, while playing the game? I always looks where my gun is aiming at :) and press c fast to see where I am. ^^

I have the main map bound to middle mouse button, making it usable even when going into combat. C is such an odd location for a map key...

That looks a lot better! I'm not such a fan of the weapon icons on the bottom (maybe only have them fade in/out when you switch weapons), but everything else looks pretty sweet =P

and omg I can't wait to try the new tram, those changes look super dramatic.

I love the weapon icon, it gives a clearer view of what weapons you currently have. And it fits also the new layout so well.

The line underneath the commander name/team res is there to separate out the commander notifications when they appear underneath. That line is not supposed to be there all the time, only appear when the notifications appear.

Yes, there are players who rely on the mini map on the HUD quite a lot, actually, for seeing nearby friends and enemies.

Yes, the weapon selection icons will only appear when you are switching weapons, and fade out when you are done.

I think it would be cool if you added a vignetting shader, not too big and dark but it might look cool.

My ps attempt :P (good that i downloaded the cs6 beta yesterday - so i got photoshop to play around with :P)
But ingame it would look better since i just placed the vignetting on top, which darkens the ui elements a bit much i guess...

Note: i have no idea what im doing. (elliptical marquee tool, inverted selection, filled with radial gradiant, gaussian blur and then layer softlight)

The new UI looks pretty awesome - can't wait to try it out and see how it feels in-play.

Having seen Koruyo's effort I actually quite like the idea of a minor vignette effect to keep the focus on the centre of the screen.
