Considering how quickly you can spam / grow cysts, seems potentially troublesome (thinking in particular of cysts in marine base). However, I like the idea of making infestation more useful to the aliens in general. Maybe regen rate in combat should be increased slightly for aliens or something like that.

They already disable mines, IIRC. (unless that is only when placed) They make mines explode...
