Aliens triggering these mines will be splattered with a quick-freezing liquid agent. Not cold enough to stop the lifeform entirely, the cold causes alien core temperatures to drastically decrease. Immensely reducing metabolism rates for 5-7 seconds. (Reduces energy regen to 0). -Mines trigger instantly and apply to all aliens in a small radius.

Lets marines defend singular locations (bases/strongholds/chokepoints) from fades, without introducing any nerfs, or overwhelming counter mechanics. Leaving fades to prey on silly marines that run off alone (as they should) while encouraging more thought before attacking groups of marines. The energy Regen-prevention is also a soft counter, encouraging teamwork and intelligent placement to actively deter fades from attacking marine strongholds alone, while allowing skilled fades to work around the mechanic and compensate when necessary.

    besides, fades are so fast that they are long gone when any mine goes off...
    saw plenty of fades clear a base of mines without taking a scratch

    Ok, well, I think it's a pretty cool idea to create some sort of weapon that affects alien regeneration rate. Similarly, aliens should have something that slows marine RoF or prohibits reloading (as UWE mentioned in their design log).

    I say nice idea to the OP, just need to figure out how to implement it properly.

    Mines are already fade counter. Put a pack of 3 on the floor Next to each other. stand on it and when the fades attack you they go boom

    Although it would be interesting I see the mines knock fades out of blink
