<div class="IPBDescription">Pictures</div>I just wanted to share a too small ready room I built over the last 2 days to learn how to use all the tools of the editor. I used simple shapes and straight angles, nothing too fancy.
Again it isn't official or anything just wanted to share it with everyone :)

Although I am pretty bummed out since without custom textures or even custom models, my "idea" I had for a unique map will not be a reality any time soon :(

I just had a cool idea, maybe if you are reading this and you are new to mapping too, why not post your own small productions here? I'd love to have 1 thread where I can see what you come up with too.

    Just place a Skybox entity down and edit it's properties. Choose the "Cinematic file", and the skyboxes currently in game are under maps, skyboxes. There is only 2 in game so far although you can make your own no problem

    Looking forward to seeing what you have :)

    That is orginally what I thought, but no. It cannot be re-sized. The editor or game does it automatically when you launch it in-game.. You basically pop the skybox entity in, select your skybox picture and its done.

    Is it possible that you could brighten it up slightly? I can just barely make out the detail.

    The "flared light" is a spotlight with atmospheric turned on.

    Literally anywhere. In the pictures of my ready room it is basically in the center.

    <!--quoteo(post=1914781:date=Mar 18 2012, 06:52 PM:name=Drakennz)--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Drakennz @ Mar 18 2012, 06:52 PM) <a href="index.php?act=findpost&pid=1914781"><{POST_SNAPBACK}></a></div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->also how did you give it that "Natural Light" look with the flared kinda light there?

    Here is a screenshot of my light:

    <img src="http://gyazo.com/42759f9b3dc67d3acf7fcb2f1edc170e.png" border="0" class="linked-image" />

    I have 2 lights. One is a spot light and the other one an ambient light.
    I'm not too sure at this point what gives it the "flared" look, but I believe it is "Atmospheric Density". At first I set it to around 100, which gave the "godrays" super brightness to the point of blinding. The setting I have it around now seems to be optimal.

    Basically I pointed the spotlight down at the angled pillars. The light that is able to shine through the cracks illuminates my room.
    My other light as I said is a basic ambient light

    What I have done so far I think is pretty amateur because once you figure it out the first time you can easily duplicate it within minutes.
    my steam email is

    Anyone interested in mapping for NS2 can add me.

    I struggle to make anything this cool. Everything i make looks like a square textured box in comparison.....how to make each wall look so different to each other?

    Well so far I haven't made much. I think one of the main points about designing something like an NS2 map is you must have a clear vision of what you want it to look like. Most mapping is finding out what tools you need to use to get the desired vision.
    It's why for the more professional mappers I see making elaborate planning and layout drawings for their maps.

    In the pics above I'm mainly using a combination of props & faces to get the desired effect.
